You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.
I don't hate D.J. Williams. I liked the signing. I wasn't expecting Williams to be an "Urlacher replacement" since Brian was the kind of player that rarely comes around in a generation.
But Williams was just average. He ranked 86th in the league in tackles. Even on the Bears, he ranks 5th, behind Chris Conte of all people.
Plus, as was pointed out, the Bears seem to be giving up more and more chunks of yardage. Maybe against the Saints it was expected, but the lowly Steelers (ranked 29th) rang up 459 yards and the self-destructing Giants posted 355.
Briggs can't do it all by himself. Though it seems that he's trying.
I like the spark that Bostic may bring. We spent a second round pick on the guy - let's see what he can do.
Again, I'm not a Williams hater. But the Bears need a spark from someone else on D.
And who knows, the NFL is filled with names of players that stepped in for an injured player - only to make a mark for themselves.
