Dixon fake punt

This guy didn't get drafted just for his leg. Jax didn't defend against Dixon running - other teams are lazy about it too. It's coming - maybe against the Titans or maybe saved for the Pats. Dixon's 4th down going for it had a very high success rate at Syracuse.

I could see it in the next Chiefs game for sure. Still baffles me how we lost that game but moving beyond that you know the Broncos are just itching to try this. I love that our Special Teams Coordinator actually has some creativity in what he does and we have seen our ST unit help win us a game. Now given they also lead to us losing a game but I still like what he is trying to do with this unit.

I'd buy that. Of course, like the long FG everyone would second guess if it didn't work. I like that our coaches played to win, and that's why I refuse to second guess that long FG attempt. You make the calls that give you a shot to win. It doesn't always work out, but it's always the right call.

I don't think you call a fake punt so much as give your punter the option to use it if he sees the opening. Sure this should be augmented by the scouts and coaches watching the game film, but you don't want your punter executing the end around or bursting up the middle if the play isn't there. Dixon can also pass the ball btw.

It is in the Broncos long term interest to show the fake punt - as it will make the receiving teams have to account for that option - deteriorating their ability to set up the return.

I'm always interested in Draft Crazy's opinions on a punter/kicker - so I can take the opposite opinion and have a high percentage of times being correct.
