K, i'll make it the short version. My entire life my dad made me eat whatever was served, didn't matter where we were, Grandparents house, uncles, didn't matter. Well, he knew since I was old enough to know what they were I hated mashed potatoes but he always made me eat them. I'm that kid sitting at the table for two hours just moving them around my plate hoping I can get out of eating them. One time when I was I believe 11 years old, he sat there at the table with me until I ate them, that night it was a dinner of breaded pork chops, mashed potatoes and I think corn off the cobb. Well needless to say I had to eat them he wasn't going to leave the table until I did, I put in one spoonful and then another, well in that second spoonful was a little piece of the breading from the pork chop (I really hate mashed potatoes) I guess that triggered my puke valve because I puked all over my plate, wasn't a whole lot but a good handful anyhow. My dad made me eat my puke! Not all of it but he smacked me and said you did that on purpose to get out of eating them, which I honestly didn't. Did I mention my dad was an ass hole? Fast forward about 3 years, Grandparents house for Thanksgiving i'm 14 I believe my dad and I are in line serving ourselves, remember he always made me eat mashed potatoes no matter where we were. Well on this day in I believe 1982 I said dad, i'm not eating the mashed potatoes, I don't care if you beat the shit out of me. He didn't say a word and I haven't eaten mashed potatoes since, been more than what 33 years...

I guess that wasn't the short version.

That sucks bro. If my kid at least tries it and then says he he doesn't like then he can stop eating it. That's total abuse especially the hitting. I can fully understand your hatred towards mashed potatoes.

He doesn't sound like a real tolerant person... What does he do when his kid spills his milk, smack him in the back of the head...?

One of my favorite movies all time...

Seriously though that's fucked up... Sometimes parents lose sight and take it too far... I've been the victim of said action(s)... My mom once beat my older brother with a pool stick for making fun of our older cousins accent... Live and learn, my wife has been a very big reason for me to see the problem with jumping to beat ass... I believe there is a time and place but within reason and that sounds quite unreasonable....

Looking back it doesn't bother me at all, he taught me a valuable lesson, he taught me how NOT to treat the people I love... My mother God rest her soul hit me in the head with an aluminum baseball bat once, but I deserved it and I have no ill feelings for the other things she hit me with in my childhood, hot wheels tracks, broomsticks, wooden spoons, I deserved it all and that's just how kids were raised in my family, I was a big time smart ass as a kid and things were different in the 70's and early 80's but I turned out to be a very good man because of my mother and despite my father.

That's the million dollar question... What's better a shitty dad or no dad...? Truly no right answer IMO... Seems like we both came out of bad situations and made the best out of them... It's what makes me want to help the kids so much...

Although my team is built for ball control and winning the field position battle which is why I grabbed a punter and kicker I repicked...

Todd Christensen and Sean Gilbert

You should have kept the punter because I feel he would be very busy in our matchup.

Thats because of all the sack fumbles Reggie White, Derrick Thomas and Suh lay on Marino and all the picks Deion and Blount have:thumb:

I'm ok with a couple garbage time turnovers when i'm up 54 - 17:yes:

You couldn't score 54 on my D if we played 16 consecutive weeks. And how are you gonna hold me to 17 when Ogden and Roaf are blowing up your puny DE's, Larry Allen is manhandling Olsen, and Wiz and Donaldson are doubling Lilly 10 yards downfield? Csonka blows up a backer and Dickerson is off to the races. Unless we pass against your overmatched secondary. And let's not forget Steve Young taking off when all else fails, something Marino simply can't so. Nope, I have more respect for your team than 54-17, I'll call it a more realistic 45-21 me:suds:

I actually grabbed the kicker and punter for my later rounds... I thought our match was a scrimmage for my guys to get ready for the real competition... :noidea:

I had to LOL because this reminds me so much of my Dad. My Pops had it rough growing up, so he had the same rule, if it was on your plate you were going to eat it, or risk gumming your food. I'll never forget one Christmas my Grandmother got all excited about this casserole cookbook she bought and she made like 8 different kinds. Needless to say, a couple of them were terrible, and a couple more would make you wretch(chestnut/onion surprise?). Anyway, my Brother and I both gagged on our first couple of bites, when we got that look from our Dad, the If you hurt Mom's feelings you'll land against that wall look, but we were still gagging. When Pop finally took a bite, it was the funniest thing I ever saw, he didn't spit it out or wretch, but he changed color 3 times and his eyes watered up before he said "Great Mom". When she went to the kitchen to check dessert, Dad quickly scraped our plates LOL.

I knew there was a reason we are so much alike Tommy LMAO. The Old Man was tough, but I miss him very much every day

Happy Thanksgiving my sports nut Buddies:suds:

Several hot dinners turned into cold breakfasts until the meal was finished. That changed how I ate dinner I rather eat a hot broccoli casserole then a cold broccoli casserole for breakfast. My dad is 6'2, 255 and we didn't argue with him very much. I told my dad fuck you one day and that was the only day he ever punched me. He punched me square in the jaw and I fell to the crowd he insured he was there to drop on top of me. Ahhh what a great day. Now let's all be thankful on Thanksgiving.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I'm so pissed at my wife. I made her the garlic mashed potatoes so she could sleep in. Well she decides to add jalapeno cream cheese and butter to the mashed potatoes because she hears it makes them creamer. She didn't even taste it before just adding things. 1) why mess with something if you don't know if it needs anything 2) you don't add jalapeno cream cheese to it maybe just add plain cream cheese. 3) if you don't know how to cook why are you going to mess with something you haven't tried 4) so instead of doing other things before she has to leave she pretends to cook and leaves me with the mess before she heads to work with that shit for mashed potatoes.
