Interesting factoid, Janne Niinimaa is the last Flyer dman to be drafted by the Flyers and lead the Flyer dmen in scoring. This was back in 1997-98. Since then, all flyer dmen to lead the Flyer dmen in scoring were either drafted by other teams or undrafted.

BTW looking at the stats, Eric Desjardins has a great claim as the greatest Flyer dman ever next to Mark Howe…

Phaneuf is a cancer his own teammates hate him. You don't want guys like that on your team and he's not even that good makes a lot of mistakes. Big reason why the leafs didn't make the playoffs.

Thanks for the research haha. I didn't think I was THAT accurate in my theory. And damn the rangers for stealing mcdonagh. They got sooooo lucky there.

But ya, just makes me believe more in being patient with the defense. It's not what we want, but it could be exactly what we want in 2-3 years if we just sit tight and fill it with stop gaps, ie timonen, for a couple more seasons.

As a Ranger fan ill agree we lucked out and to think Mac was kinda a throw in to the trade
