It is really hard to evaluate Robert after two years. His first year Kyle installed the read option and caught the entire NFL unprepared. It worked so well that Seattle and San Fran installed the same offense halfway through they year. NFL defenses caught up last year.

Griffin's 2nd year he was not the same guy as the year before due to his injury. NFL defenses knew it and attacked him accordingly. Because he didn't play in a conventional offense he did not get a chance to develop as a drop back QB, something he has never been. He also couldn't rely on his legs to escape defenses using his legs because of the injury.

I believe Robert is two years behind where he should be. Now it is up to Gruden to put him in a position to succeed while also learning. Jackson's deep threat could help but only if Griffin can get him the ball. Could be that Jordan Reed and some RB help Robert a lot by giving him short safer throws.

This is a big year for Griffin, he needs to step up his game. I am sure Gruden is well aware of that for both of their sakes.

having a receiving running back would help a lot.
