Reed has been by far and wide my greatest reason to eat crow. I thought it was Davis time.

Jordan Reed Breaks Redskins Rookie Records, on Pace to set NFL Records for Rookie TE's - HTTR4LIFE.com - HTTR4LIFE.com

remember the "hate " we had for this pick in round 3 ?

this guy will set some team records and possibly nfl records if he keeps healthy

now here is a question , if our number 2 wr, hank ,had 81 catches and our te had had 52 would we be pining for another # 2 wr?

This is why you have to take any "Draft Grades" (& similar) with a pound of salt. They are pretty much meaningless especially in this era. A lot of these "draft gurus" are no different than many of us at a time where just about anyone can obtain data on any given prospect.

There is no telling how a player will pan out in the NFL - you cannot simply go by their college performance or combine results. A lot of can't miss type players barely survive a few years in the NFL. Also - the goal for the Skins moving forward is just keeping as many picks as possible since it is given that several of them won't do well (applies to pretty much every team). I have to laugh when some people here rag on the team because a 7th round pick didn't make it. Get real!

A lot of us thought that Fred Davis was 100% healthy. So naturally picking a TE in the 3rd round didn't make sense. But now it looks like a great move b/c Davis is about to get released. Everyone knew he had talent people just thought that Davis was back at 100% so they questioned the pick. What is shocking is that Reed might become the best TE in the draft especially with shanny.

You bring up a good point. None of us truly know what is going on within Redskins Park. Perhaps the team had its doubts about Davis due to injury status, attitude or whatever. We should not second guess the picks of any team if we don't know the whole story.

Also - it could simply be a case of an overlooked player who should have been drafted regardless of position (kind of like the Cousins situation). It sounds like Reed has first round talent so they simply could have viewed this as a steal that was too good to pass up.

Well put SoCal. I personally put ZERO stock in draft guru's. I like who I like and have my thoughts but to get into heated arguments about the draft is comical to me.

this could apply to other aspects of this team and why coaches dont call certain plays and why certain defenses are run .

Reed is a perfect example of drafting best player available. Did we need a TE? No. But they saw in this guy a playmaker and an athlete. TE has become a very important position in NFL offenses. We all thought we had a good one in Davis, and I still think we did. But Reed appears to have taken it to another level for us, especially his YAK.

Exactly JY! Best player available.... Explain to me again why we skipped over Peterson at #6 that year again? Oh right we had Portis and look where that got them.

Kevin you prove my point. Peterson was clearly the BPA and a different FO didn't adhere to that principle.

Very true. Sometimes it is tough for all of us to see things objectively due to our frustration. In spite of that I still believe that Haslett is a lousy coach.

Technically we did need a TE if we knew Davis was falling asleep in meetings and not 100% healthy. You cant go with Paulsen and Paul as your #1 TE.

And a puff away from a one year suspension. If they truly believed in the guy they would have figured out a way to sign him to a long term deal.

i like AP , but what makes you think he would be nothing more then a hood ornament here ?.

the vikings arent exactly superbowl contenders so what has he done for them in terms of winning ?

you dont base your draft philosophy based on the BPA solely it is a combination of need and of taking the BPA

at the time the team felt landry filled a need and was a good player . it turned out health junked his career here

in the end we got a younger morris
