The primary goal of expanding the playoffs was clearly to generate more revenue. However, another stated reason was to ensure that the best teams wouldn’t miss out on a chance at the championship due to a single bad loss during the season, or being punished for playing a tougher SOS.
Now, with two teams in the championship game that wouldn’t have even made it under the old four-team playoff system, do you think they achieved that goal? Or has it instead diminished the importance of regular season games?
