Barrys bowl game is not included in his overall yards in regards to the record. The stat used in the record is based on 11 regular season games minus the bowl game. McCaffery has plated 13 games already not including his bowl game. Unless we are basing the record on a level playing field its downgrading Sanders accomplishment. Had McCaffery surpassed sanders in 11 games there is no discussion. But it took him 2 extra games. We're not talking yards per game but when extra games are involved i agree those sats are flawed as well. And i cant recognize those records as legit either. McCaffery has the record for most yards in 13 games. Until someone passed Sanders in 11 he still holds the distinction of most all purpose yards in a single season

Dude, of course bowl games were not included then. Yes, this is a fact. Another fact, everyone plays a minimum of 12 games now. Bowl games and confrence championships count too. Players may play 15 games now, they all count. That's where we are in 2015. Records that players who only played 11 games and who's bowl games didn't count WILL have their records broken if they haven't been already. This is what happens with progress. It doesn't mean Sanders was any less of a player or that anyone is going to forget what he did in college if they were lucky enough to see him. It only means he slid from #1 to #2 in the record books on this record. Luckily for McCaffrey your opinion doesn't matter. Like others have said, you have the right to not like it, dislike it all you want, but the fact will remain that McCaffrey had more all-porpose yards this season than Sanders did. .period.

The record states "season", so he broke the season record. Sanders holds the per game number
McCafferys record is for most all purpose yards in 13 games. If you want to go season he doesn't break the record in 12 games. Championship games are not far off from bowl games. During the regular 12 game Stanford season McCaffery had 3035 all purpose yards. Falling 215 yards short of Sanders record

30 pages different topic,. I want to see the opinions on the record based on the 2 extra games
I actually brought it up on that other thread.
Seems we have a LSU fan pissed off that his own RB didn't even get an invite so he's looking for excuses to hate on this kid and a USC fan that is bitter about their loss to them doing the same.

Every time they change any game the rules that get broken are still broken. This isn't the first time a college record has fallen to different circumstances and it sure won't be the last.

The point is no one else has ever accumulated that many all purpose yards. He isn't the only kid to ever play in 13 regular season games and yet he is the only one that rang up that number. It means something. What it means is likely different depending on how raw your ass is over who that kid plays for it seems.

Like i just stated you cant even say McCaffery passed sanders during the regular 12 game Stanford season. It required the PAC championship game and the 2nd extra game to do so. Regular season with an extra game he finished 215 yards shy of Sanders

CCG are considered regular season games. Don't like it? Too bad. It is what it is. They are not bowl games. And they never have been considered as such.

What are we even talking about here? We are talking about stats. So many things go into a football player's stats. Like 21 other guys on any given snap. Liek coaches and schemes. Like schedule. No amount of stats will make McCaffrey a better fooball player than Sanders. Only McCaffrey's abilities can make him better than Sanders. I doubt he has that ability no matter how many yards he racks up.

I don't have to say that. I don't care. I know what the record books will say. You know what the record books will say. There will be no *

Im not sure you can really consider it broken. Its more of an opinion on whether or not you consider the CCG a part of the regular season .IMO unless its done on par with the 11 games its not legit. But adding the numbers from a CCG as part of the regular season just tarnishes it more. in 12 games he's short of sanders

No its not an opinion.... and yes you can consider it broken. We've all noted that it's broken under protest of clarkson23devils. Maybe put this energy into writing the ncaa a letter about it. See what you can accomplish.

Record books hold a lot of tarnished records. Including stats from a CCG to justify a record is a major stretch. Even giving McCaffery the extra regular season game he's still short of sanders. Media record at best

A season for NCAA statistical purposes in 2015 is every game, post-season too. You can't argue that fact. Don't try to debate the facts, clarkson, it's not going to work out for you.

Wasn't broken in 11 games. Wasn't even broken during the regular season. Very big stretch on this one

Sanders post season stats were not included which makes it a regular season record by the standards set forth in the original record

You are coming off like someone with a preconceived agenda. You don't like the kid or his team and therefore are flat out making up reasons to diminish his Heisman candidacy. Calling him names like Beiber or whatever really doesn't make you look any better, just a lot more bitter.

It is a fact that everything before the bowls is considered part of the season. This isn't a matter of debate. Every record takes in those CCG's. They have, and they do. You may not like it, but that's how it is.

It is a fact that McCaffrey broke the single season record for all purpose yards. Yes, it is also a fact that it was in more total games. No one denies that.

I'd also point out he did this in the era of big passing and much tougher defenses. With the spread offenses and hurry up no huddle garbage flying everywhere defenses have matured and have had to adapt far more than they did in Sanders era. The game itself has changed considerably. Which record is more impressive? That is a matter of opinion and yours is clearly understood. It's not a universal truth.

It's not an opinion at all. The NCAA counts them.

As far as I know the NCAA has record books, the media does not!

Again, no one claimed he did break it in 11 games. And it's not a stretch, it's the way it is...

I'd guess it has a lot to do with the 300+ all-purpose yards and couple of touches he dumped on the Trojans.
