Did anyone's opinion of Boudreau change after ep 1 of 24/7

Mine did... I actually thought he was a good coach beforehand. Sure the timing was horrible for him this year, but good lord... How could any player, fan, or owner take him seriously during his fuck-filled tirades? I couldn't believe that the Caps' players didn't laugh at him...

Thoughts other than I'm obviously biased? I'm not, I have a masters in Sports Administration.. I didn't see any point systems discussed other than in Shero's office....

Clearly the Pens have been set up for destruction in the WC... Which BTW now feels like game 7 of the finals. Great job, HBO.

I think you can only go to the curse well so often until the team loses respect for the message/tunes out the coach. The players have tuned out BB and I wouldn't be surprised to see a coaching change in Washington.

I havent seen it so no, however I have to say there are a lot of coaches that I dont like when they are coaching. Some, even successful ones, can come across as whiny, arrogant, and annoying.

LOL not saying you are being biased, but your credentials don't exclude you from having biases.

I was also admitting to biases... I saw limited front office action from the Caps. Probably because fatty was busy making a fool of himself.

To be honest, I just saw it, and yeah kinda. After watching it, I think it's time for a coaching change. I mean when Brooks Liach says "I'm so sick of this fucking shit" I think he has lost the team

Thats just it! His voice was not convincing... It was the most pathetic expletive tirade I've ever heard. Wasn't creative at all..... You gotta get everything in there to get people to listen, especially people of this skill level.

Its got to be tough to be a coach in full view like that. Either way, if they dont get better fast he is outta there.

I agree that if they continue a long losing streak, his job is in jeopardy, but there are a couple things to consider in regards to this thread...

(1) Owner Leonsis and McPhee tend to take a longer term approach, so I think he'll have a longer leash here than in most places. Especially since I think the organization generally feels BB has earned some leeway.
(2) Boudreau has the best winning percentage among active coaches and who else is avaibable right now. If you say (as we Caps' fans hear all the time!) regular season success doesn't matter, then why does a losing streak (in December of all times) matter too much? And who else would you bring in?
(3) He went on a tirade one night. He has said many times that you have to pick and choose your spots for that stuff and has had success at times doing it. I know against the Oiler last year, he went off on OV after the 2nd period and OV came out and scored two in the first half of the 3rd period. He was actually complimentary of their play after the Ducks loss this week, so I don't think the Bruce you saw from that one scene is indicative of how he is every night. He chooses to play "bad cop" from time-to-time, and by and large, it's obviously been effective for him.
(4) What you also saw in the documentary was BB in practice teaching defense - something he allegedly doesn't do according to rival fans.

So for me, no, it didn't change my opinion of who he is. He is pretty much all the things I've listed above b/c I read, watch, and hear everything I can about this team, so nothing that came across in the documentary was much different than my expectations.

I actually think BB has worked to improve many shortcomings of this team - work in the corners, going to net more, better penalty kill, etc.

A Post columnist wrote a good article that posited this - if the Caps were 32-0 and were out of playoff position right now, nobody would care that much b/c the playoffs are all that matter here. I want to see them play good hockey, and while the early part of the losing streak was bad hockey, they're playing better and the wins will come.

That was the worst professional tirade I've ever seen... It sounded staged and was pathetic.. It looked like he was hungry and wanted to get back to his office and eat a hot dog.

I realize that there shouldn't be knee jerk reactions, but Therrien was gone halfway through a season and didn't get his name on the cup... I saw stuff in that documentary that told this trained mind that fatty is gone... And quickly.

I don't think BB's job is in jeopardy just yet but if things don't turn around in the next couple weeks then McPhee might have to look at making a change.

Quite honestly, I saw a team that has just lost all its confidence and are trying to do too much as a result. I will say that if they do manage to get through this, then it will definitely help them in the long run. They need to learn that simple is better sometimes.

Tomorrow night is the night I think they end their streak though.

The Sens are coming home from out west and are getting horrible goaltending from Elliott, who will probably start.
