They will need to wait until (or if) Cabrera returns. It is possible Miggy is the DH in waiting. If you get rid of VMart and Cabrera HAS to play DH, then Stewart is your LFer....AND he would need to play almost every day. Which would mean Detroit either sends Mahtook or Jones to AAA, or lose Reyes. Gets complicated.

An old, snail-slow, DH-only player who's basically become a singles hitter? Yep, I'm sure other teams are salivating at the thought of brining him aboard in July.

VMart will still be owed around $8-9mil at the trade deadline. Even if his numbers go up to acceptable (for Detroit - that still is kinda low)...no AL team is going to fork that kind of money over for a rental DH.

Just a thought....does Cabrera stay on the DL until the Tigers make a decision on VMart? I was under the impression that the two players were friendly....so perhaps Miggy does not want to comeback and push VMart out of a job. (Hicks needs to play. He is a lousy 1B and a mediocre catcher...but he adds offense)

The hope has to be, in 2020, he's again a reserve outfielder. Only with a year of AAA expierience.


Lot of patience for what looks to be small upside.


Though I do think he'd have a chance to be a very nice 4th outfielder, when he's ready.

Did anyone see the stat on yesterday's Tiger broadcast -- that they've now won 93 games on Memorial Day? It's by far the most of any MLB franchise. Considering the Tigers are in their 118th year as an MLB team, that's a ridiculous win percentage on a certain day of the year. Quite a fluke, to be sure, but amazing nonetheless.
