Minor league managers rotated. Lance Parrish goes from Erie to Western Michigan White Caps. Says he was disappointed he did not get AAA spot. Actually...if the Toledo team is anything like last season, he might be a lot better off in Grand Rapids.

Not sure how to read this: Is it a demotion, or does the organization feel like Parrish can better help the younger, greener guys?

So... Ian Kinsler's 2018 option is officially $11 million ($10 million base, plus $1 million for reaching 600 plate appearances). It could have been $12 million with a Gold Glove Award, but that went to Brian Dozier a few days ago.

Gardy shoehorning his boy Doug into Toledo.

Again....if I was given a choice, Toledo would be my last. Although, maybe the salary is higher? I would think attempting to make major league regulars out of Buck Farmer, Anthony Gose, and Blaine Hardy must be worth some extra cash...right?

I would think trying to make major leaguers out of those guys would put me in the psych ward.

Nobody opts to take a lesser job.

The Front Office might make that decision for them though.

It could have been a suggestion to Lance that his career path has developed road blocks in the Detroit organization.

Could be.

Or he moves up with the group he gets next year. Gardy ain't gonna be around long. Dudes a proven loser.

L.A. Angels reportedly interested in Kinsler.

If they trade Kinsler, I wonder if signing Howie Kendricks for two years might not be a bad idea. He can play 2b or lf and 1b in a pinch. He can still hit, just not much power. If they can get him for $10-12mil on a two year deal, it would give the team some veteran presence. Although, it may be hard to convince a decent veteran to give up all hope of any post-season play and come to Detroit.
Free agent signings, for the Tigers, might not come until February, when some guys are getting desperate.

Former top prospect Steven Moya has signed to play in Japan. His Japanese team would be smart to tell him to keep his glove at home. "Gaijin just bring big bat"

The Tigers announced they will not tender a contract to Bruce Rondon, making him a free agent. I'm sure GMs are lining up around the block to sign him.

Japan is the place for Rondon. If baseball doesn't pan out...give sumo wrestling a try.

The Tigers sign OF Leonys Martin, formerly of the Rangers & Mariners, for $1.175 million.

Career .247 hitter with 38 home runs in 5+ seasons. He'll fit right in here!

At least he has speed (24 SB last year). Doesn't help a whole lot when combined with a .300 career OBP.

Tigers sign Mike Fiers (Astros) for $6mil on a one year deal. His 2017 stats were not pretty...over 5.00 ERA and lots of HRs....but given that some sites are listing Buck Farmer as the fifth starter - Fiers is an upgrade.

If he turns it around early in the season...he could bring a decent prospect at the trade deadline.

I'd like to see the Tigers sign one or two more reclamation starters to one year deals. Tillman, Cahill, even Clay Buchholz (on a minor league deal).
