Detroit has had a chance to use Greene as a starter. It looks like they prefer him coming out of the pen. He might be one of those guys that loses a good deal of velocity or control after 40-50 pitches? But if they don't land another starter by the end of the month and Norris' and or Zimmermann's injuries linger...they may have to rethink.

Last I heard, Zimmermann and Norris are not ready for a return next week.....leaving Detroit with Verlander, Fulmer, Sanchez, Boyd, and Pelfry. Not exactly scary.
I don't disagree with you that they have had opportunities to use green and it seems what they have done they have run through everyone else and have nothing left because of injuries and shitty performances. He has done a good job from the bullpen but he is the best option we have left. We need to keep close or any moves at the trade deadline don't mean anything.

Besides the fact that Ausmus seems to like Greene's role in the bullpen, Tiger announcers have also mentioned that there may be a fear of Greene re-developing his blister problems if he throws too many pitches in an outing. If we have to go with the unreliable Sanchez and Boyd too long, however, they may have to just roll the dice on Greene as a starter again.

Matt Boyd and Anibal Sanchez will start Monday and Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins, according to Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus, who said the Tigers' two injured starters aren't quite ready to return.

Jordan Zimmermann and Daniel Norris are making progress but might need a minor-league rehab start before being ready, Ausmus said.

I have seen enough. Steven Moya is NOT a major league outfielder. Not sure he would be a Slo-Pitch softball outfielder. The Tigers need to find ANY team needing a DH and accept whatever that team offers for him. If Avila can't find a RF by early next week...use Tyler Collins and Aviles in a platoon until JD returns.

Cabrera is 0-9 this year with bases loaded.

Does he still have the ability to carry this team on his back.

Kinsler is Tiger baseball. Hustle and "get your uniform dirty" type of player.

If no one wants Moya for a DH, he can always work for Omaha Steaks. He's quite the butcher.

Honestly I could care less about anything else except for the fact that Verlander is still dependable and had a very good start. It looks like he is starting to finally adjust to his reduced velocity, which his stuff is still one of the best in the league regardless. His stuff was above and beyond when he could hit 100 but it's still one of the best as far as I'm concerned.

Was at the game and JV looked great....hit 99 a few times in the later innings and seemed to have 95- 97 when ever he wanted....

JV recorded his fourth 10+ strikeout game this year. That ties the most double-digit K games he's had in a season since 2010. And there's still a lot of 2016 left.

Don't know what's going on there. It certainly is bizarre. He's a guy who's always been close to .400 with RISP, but he's nowhere near that this season.

Miggy is listed as being 33. Tiger fans might have to accept that we won't see Triple Crown seasons from him any more. Hopefully his "declining" years are better than most MLB players. I think he still is capable of hitting .300 so if they put a couple of decent hitters in front of him, he'll get his RBI....but the 30+ homer years might be a thing of the past.
