Gorzelanny was a complete waste of roster space..

He would have been better served as a clubhouse pitching machine than an active player.

There are a few guys I think the tigers will call up at some point this year for bullpen roles. Wish they didn't lose Knudsen.. but it is what it is.

Guys like these will probably see time up at some point in the pen
  • jiminez (maybe late in the year if he is dusting everyone still at AA)
  • turley
  • robertson
  • voelker
  • ferrell
  • mantiply ( i think he is just as likely as ryan is to make the pen out of the gate really)
  • guilmet

Paul Voekler is one to watch.. the guy is a stud... super fast mover. Was drafted in the 10th rd in 2014.

And you mentioned Jairo Labourt -- the throw-in to the David Price deal, as a possible conversion to RP. He's walking too many in the minors right now (4.5/9), but has plus-stuff and a good K-rate. Still just 21.

Mantiply > Kyle Ryan if you ask me.

yeah.. he is only in A+ ball.. I doubt he is anywhere near MLB level in the next year or two. He can throw a HUGE fastball though... No way he can control it as a starter.. not sure why they are even kidding themselves.

Turley really interests me.. he is a guy that nobody pays much attention to.. but he can throw 5 pitches... including a knuckle that is legit.. and he is a lefty.. the combo of knuckleball and lefty gets me excited. His minor league numbers are really quite solid.. It wouldn't surprise me if he comes up and is a solid pitcher at some point.

Honestly... The Gorzelanny signing is what scares me about Lowe...
That dude definitely had a career year last year. I'm not expecting him to crash and burn, but Im not counting on him to be some shutdown setup man either.

I assume his ERA will be closer to 4 than 2 and he'll go back to somewhere close to his career averages across the board. Which aren't impressive, but shouldn't hurt.

Gorz stunk the place up last year. And he did it while appearing in a career high number of games. Wtf!?!

I could see him bouncing back this year, just hope it's not when they're playing us.

Reasons Don Kelly did not sign with Detroit this year and picked the Marlins.....

1. He is a 'Leyland Man'
2. AAA teams....New Orleans vs Toledo
---a. 60 degrees in April vs 25 and snow
---b. Gulf waters vs the Maumee River
3. The propensity of Detroit fans to blame all loses on team's 25th player
---a. See Raburn, Inge, Santiago
---b. "Tigers would've won but Kelly sat on the wrong ass cheek the entire game! f'kn idiot!"
4. New Orleans is 1000 miles farther away from dougplayer
5. That 'young kid' Mike Aviles can do everything he can do except pitch. :)

Diamondbacks signed Tyler Clippard today. 2 years 12.25 mil.

Tigers got Lowe for 2 years 11 mil....
Lowe has a career era of 3.80 and a career k/bb rate of 8.1/3.8. with a whip of 1.40
Clippard has a career era of 2.88 and a career k/bb rate of 9.8/3.7 with a whip of 1.089

Clippard has way better numbers.... You are starting to see how coming out the gate and getting guys signed early in december to deals that looked fringy to begin with are now starting to look real shitty.

Yep. Lowe and Pelfrey both signed early, and well over market value.

Had to laugh when I read it.. apparently he choked some cuban kid that was a valet at his condo building.. then ran upstairs and when the cops got there he answered the door with no pants on.

I think Delmon had a little to much to drink during the Superbowl.

I don't think he waits for a special occasion to drink heavily.
