Hopefully the bullpen can hold on to a ten run lead. (Lowe is not available today, is he?)

Fulmer gets a win after the Tigers lost the day before, I think it's the 6th time he has won a game after a Tiger loss the day before

I find it hard to celebrate a victory like this. Do you realize that if the Tigers had just gone 4-8 in their 12 games with Cleveland...the Tigers would be only 1/2 game out of first. JUST 4-8!!!!

Allow me a few hours to enjoy the 11-game losing streak vs. this rival being stopped. Plenty of time later to dwell on the many negatives. Psychologically, if nothing else, the Tigers had to get a win this series.

Now Detroit gets Toronto who leads in the wild card race. Tigers 1/2 game to 1 1/2 games out, depending on tonight's games.

Alex Avila JR news. He is back in his familiar place on the DL in Chicago. I noticed that he brought his average up to a respectable (for him) .236. But, this won't surprise you....he has a whopping 6 RBI so far this year, as the White Sox platoon him at catcher. (Even Mike Aviles has that many)

I was thrilled to see Avila and his .220 average leave town, only to have our two catchers this season hitting about .205 combined. Ugh.

Lined up to pitch against a tough Toronto lineup are JV and then a bunch of question marks. Hoping Pelfrey can maybe come close to duplicating Sunday's start, but it's highly doubtful. The Blue Jays and Rays have vastly different lineups. The weak organizational depth for the Tigers is glaring as these DL stints pile up.

Your memory is correct, smitty. Sanchez' % of change-ups has gone up this year. I made a quick check of fangraphs (enormous amount) of pitching stats. Hard to decipher - but it seems Sanchez' velocity has slowly fallen off and his fastball is being hit hard. Thus the reliance on a changeup??? 'Probably' old Anibal has figured out that his, not so good fastball, ends up in the seats. So throw an off-speed pitch that will stay in the park.
He's not throwing his curve hardly at all either. If my memory continues to serve me right.

Changeups don't have good results when they aren't much of a "change" and aren't pinpoint.
