This team clearly needs an enema at this point.

Mark Lowe....he has given up 10 homeruns in 27 innings pitched. Lowe gives up another 2 runs in mop-up duty on Tuesday. He either accepts a AAA assignment or they have to eat the remaining $7-8mil on his contract.

Eat the contract. ....

LOL. But if I am Illitch, I'd rather have him taking my money by pitching for the Mud Hens. Otherwise, some other stupid GM will sign him to a minor league contract...and I'd still have to pay him. (You can see why Lowe will refuse a minor league assignment from Detroit.)

Hopefully Farmer gets a permanent ticket to Toledo after today (outrighted) and Tigers move on to someone else. Thadd Weber could be the next pigeon, I mean pitcher, called up.
I thought it was kinda funny. Avila brings Farmer back up, first guy Ausmus goes to after somewhat being forced to use Sanchez in the first place.

This is the bullshit you're giving me to use, well, I'll use em.

Game was also already over in the 5th, so whatever.

I honestly feel bad for Sanchez. It all went away so quickly for him.

And he does care. He looks and sounds miserable.

It happens to some pitchers in their 30s. They relied primarily on "stuff" in their 20s, and often have to learn to locate better or incorporate more deception in their 30s. JV is (I think) at the end of that transition. Sanchez appears to not even be able to make the transition.

Tigers......came in with a .195 team batting average against Indians this year. So they are all at fault.

Yep, .195 batting average and a sub-.300 slugging percentage against Cleveland... and those numbers went down last night. PATHETIC isn't a strong enough word, but I can't think of anything else right now.

He can't even throw all his pitche's for strikes anymore(right now). And he's bloated. Something is wrong.

(Seems like a ton of changeups. I don't even know where to look for his career pitch selection numbers. But they seem much different, going from memory.)

Your memory is correct, smitty. Sanchez' % of change-ups has gone up this year. I made a quick check of fangraphs (enormous amount) of pitching stats. Hard to decipher - but it seems Sanchez' velocity has slowly fallen off and his fastball is being hit hard. Thus the reliance on a changeup??? 'Probably' old Anibal has figured out that his, not so good fastball, ends up in the seats. So throw an off-speed pitch that will stay in the park.

It is what it should be....your thought of keeping him around just because is kind of silly..

Not MY idea. Both Lowe and Detroit's front office know the drill. Lowe wants to take his money and get a fresh start someplace else. Tigers don't want to look (any more) stupid by releasing him. They will go through the procedures set up by the Players Union....ask Lowe to go to AAA....agree to a phony trip to the DL. Lowe makes his decision. If he says no to either choice....Tigers keep him (doubt it) or release him.

He is out of options, so if he goes to AAA, he'd have to clear waivers where any team can pick him up for the MLB minimum, with the Tigers paying the remaining contract amount. (Why any team would WANT Lowe is beyond me.) Similar situation to what happened when Miami released Saltalamacchia with a year-plus left on his contract.

No, not an option/waiver thing. Lowe would have to agree to go to AAA (unlikely). If Lowe wants to gamble, he goes on the 15 day DL, then on a rehab assignment. If he pitches well...good for him and Tigers activate him. BUT, if he pitches like crap at AAA...he shoots himself in the foot as he less likely to get any offer (even a minor league contract) from another team.
If/when the Tigers release him, I doubt any team will offer him a major league contract (at minimum salary). Some team will sign him to a minor league contract and hope for a miracle.
