I noticed Tigers are losing their .300 hitters. Wasn't long ago that the first 5 hitters in the lineup were all hitting over .300. Now only Maybin and VMart remain and they've both seen their average drop some too.

Let's be honest, there are only two legitimate .300 hitters on the Tigers (Cabrera and Vmart). Castellanos was not going to hit .300 this year. His great early start was a BABIP anomaly, though it is nice to see increased extra-base power from him. That improvement is real. Maybin isn't anything close to a .300 hitter. Kinsler has topped .300 a couple seasons in his career, but his career BA is about .275.

Kinsler is having a bit of an off month after that hot start... I expect him to be raking again soon enough

A shame that Moya is missing time with an injury. This is his big chance to show if he is a Major League player or a AAAA-AAA near miss.

Another stretch where this team plays like the 2003 Tigers. This is unwatchable. GM need to be fired. Avila is trash.

Tigers do NOT suck. The Twins, Braves, Padres, and maybe the Phillies suck. The Tigers are just a run of the mill, win as may as they lose club. A team with some stars on its rosters, but with obvious holes. The owner spent a ton to "Win Now" and IMO, NOW has passed them by.

As for Avila - he will get the axe if they miss the playoffs. Unfortunately, if the Tigers somehow squeek into a wildcard spot, he'll probably keep his job. IMO, not only should Avila, and thus Ausmus, be replaced at years end...but Illitch needs to have the title "Director" removed after his name and proven baseball men brought in not only as GM, but someone as total Director of Baseball Operations. Put the old man in his suite at the new ice arena and lock him in there the entire year. Tell him the Tigers moved to Japan and then show him that old Tom Selleck movie where he plays for a team in Japan...old Mike will never catch on.

Not really HIS bullpen. Ausmus isn't in charge of player procurement. He uses what he has. I guess you can doubt his choice of relievers....but he has to use what they give him.

The pitchers give up 16 hits, the defense makes 3 errors, and the Tigers still win. SMH

Thank goodness for the home run ball.

Nice first inning. Tigers score 4 with nothing more than singles. That's a little different than yesterday.

Doesn't look like Mr. Koehler will be long for this game.
