Good lord this isn't looking good. Big Puma might do some damage here.

So Verlander has walked in two runs this inning and struck out Berkman on a pitch that hit the backstop in the air. What in the wide world of sports is going on around here?

JV getting the hook after 2 and 2/3rds. Worst start of his career outside of the All-Star I imagine. Mr. New Mexico may not be the only reliever that gets sent down this week. The bully is gonna be taxed after this.

Rangers fan here. I feel somewhat cheated. I tuned in tonight to watch the AL's best two pitchers duel, but it's quite obvious neither has it tonight. Darvish usually can paint the edges with ease, but tonight he's catching nothing but the middle of the plate. And Verlander is usually unhittable and pinpoint, and he was incredibly wild and/or right over the plate. Two aces getting battered and a Geovany Soto bomb... truly a bizarre night. 8-3 might not be enough with Yu's struggles and Detroit's offense. We'll see.

Jay Honny takes the first step of the comeback. 4-8 in the fourth wasn't what I saw coming.

Two bad outings by Verlander in a row. That was about the time Kate Upton was spotted with P-Diddy. As Tiger and Verlander fans, I think we may have to find a way to get Upton back in the D. May need help with the execution of the plan though.

I guess $180 million buying instant mediocrity. Forget MS Upton, she's got a teenage on Jodi Arias.

We got Trouble
Right here in Detroit City.
Trouble with a capital "T"
And that rhymes with "V"
and that stands for Verlander!

Two games in a row, JV has struggled with location. 5 walks in 5 IP vs. CLE, then he hits a batter and walks in two runs in the 3rd last night. I haven't seen control struggles like this from our ace since 2007. He looks physically okay, let's just hope it's a minor tweak in his mechanics that he can get ironed out.

a good offense will score runs but also leave more men on base because they have more men on base during games than most teams, heh.

Laker,
No, right now he is not "my ace". Hells bells, he's getting $20 mil this year and $28 mil each for the next 7 years. The leader of the GOP doesn't make that much. And neither do the guys who work the "nuke triggers".
Iffy, get in here.
How many years does that old gate Martinez have with the Tigers. With $13mil a year, we might find a solid closer, maybe.

JV is 30 years old.... Sooner or later he is gonna have a slight decline as he gets closer to the back end of his career... I am sure it is just a mechanics issue and i have all the faith in the world that JV will figure it out and be right by October when he needs to be

Wow that was ugly. JV seems to have lost control. Hope its mechanics. I guess when youre that good a few bad games and everyone panics. Still early in the year. I dont know if he was trying extra hard or something, but he didnt look like JV. anxious to see his next start. If he struggles, then he might have issues.....my bet is the next team he faces wont get many runs if any.

What happened to the JV of last year when he was boasting about how he had learned to pitch to contact to keep his pitch count down. He goes 3 ball counts alot nowdays.
