Here's a Top 10 of Sparky Anderson's more outrageous statements:

1) " Chris Pittaro is the best rookie I've had in 15 years."

2) "Mike Laga will make you forget about every power hitter that ever lived."

3) "We'd have to have a staff of nine Dwight Goodens for Mickey Mahler not to make this team."

4) " Don Gullett is going to the Hall of Fame."

5) " Kirk Gibson is the next Mickey Mantle."

6) "If you don't like Dave Rucker, you don't like ice cream."

7) "Barbaro Garbey is another Roberto Clemente."

8) "When he's right, Freddie Norman is the best lefty in baseball."

9) " Mike Ivie has the hitting mechanics of Steve Garvey."

That was off SI vault......theres a reason nobody likes u iffy......your a wannabe know it all douche.....i notice when u get into it with someone, you go and try and post something baseball worthy to try and cover the piles of shit you create....im waiting for the day this website figures you out and bounces you out on your old creepy ass.

Now im sure he said something good about lovullo.....sparky was known for his outrageous remarks......but obviously he was more raving about pittaro than torey. But you keep bringing what sparky said up, like it matters. He spoke crazy about all his players. He loved youth.

LMAO.....I really do have cleaves by the short hairs. Three posts about me. I guess that is to cover up the egg on his face.

From Boston Globe.....

Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson, a man prone to hyperbole, predicted greatness for Torey Lovullo and put the rookie infielder in the Detroit lineup to start the 1989 season.

Lovullo was sent back to the minors in mid-May, never to return to the Tigers. He went on to play parts of eight seasons with seven teams, hitting .224.

gonna have to disagree with you bronco. I see the royals as a fringe playoff team this year and butler hasn't even started hitting yet. Hosmer and moustakas have started out cold but both have the potential to jack out 30. Alex Gordon once again is having a great year. Their lineup will come around, their starting pitching is solid and they have a decent pen as well.

so porcello was solid again last night...can we put all of this smyly swapping with porcello talks to bed? I have no problem with rick as the # 5 pitcher on the team eating up innings. Smyly out of the pen so far has been much more beneficial.

I'd like to see Porcello be at least adequate until after the All-Star break. With Smyly available (and a lefty), Porcello is still the #1 trade chip this team has. If Tigers need to fill a hole in late July (injury or whatever)...RP is the guy we could use to fill it.

Nothing negative about Porcello, but I don't see him developing into a #1-3 starter on this team. As a bottom of rotation starter he isn't too bad...and might be even better on a more defensive minded team.

No way do the Royals have a 30 homer guy Laker, I just can't see it. (Do Hosmer and Mitch have 1 combined?)I honestly doubt they have anyone hit 25. I'd gladly take Gordon, Butler and Escobar off their hands though.

Smyly has been huge for this team in his role. I don't think he'd mean nearly as much as a starter. Or fair any better than Rick. (one bad inning has screwed his stats)

they might not hit 30 homers..I'm just saying they have the potential to. They also have Montgomery waiting in the wings..not sure how hes doing in the minors. Hosmer and moustakas were elite prospects coming up as was Gordon. It just takes the royals forever it seems to develop their hitters in the big leagues.

I agree with you on smyly and porcello. All it takes is one bad start or one bad inning or a slump from a hitter and numerous fans are ready to dump that player. I mean the guy is the fifth starter on the team, what do people expect? I think hes been pretty efficient as a fifth starter.

I agree iffster although I think he could be a 3 starter on a team with an adequate infield defense.

Hahaha, I always do that. Yeah, Mike Moustakas I mean. He's got to get it going sometime soon. Not many sub 200 corner infielder with little to no power. My issue with the Royals is they're all potential with basicly no established offensive guys. (AG is top notch, but he can't lead an offense) Butler would be great on a team with power around him, but thats not the case in KC. I do like their pitching a lot though. Great bullpen, excellent top two with Guthrie to boot. I think Shields has been one of the most underrated starters for a couple years. And Santana isn't surprising me. He surprised me last year by doing poorly.

Yeah, on this team Rick will have a hard time. Not well suited to his style. He can have success, but not to his fullest potential. Atleast not till DD figures out that Peraltas lackluster offense doesn't cancel out his awful range and unimpressive arm.

Donnie Kelly impressed Old Jimmy so much last night he starting in center tonight. That, or Austin Jackson has a couple sore hamstrings.

Jackson is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Astros.
Spin:
A three-hit game for Jackson on Thursday extended the 26-year-old's hitting streak to eight games, but the game went 14 innings and it seems manager Jim Leyland decided it was time to give Jackson his first day off of the season. Don Kelly will step in to center field while Andy Dirks leads off against right-hander Bud Norris.

That's per ESPN fantasy.....He's on my bench for the evening......

One helluva catch by Torii......Boesch would have let it drop in front of him......Magglio would have slid and missed and Torii caught the ball....That was refreshing to see.
