It wasn't such a critical run as to use up the bench. Santiago has decent enough speed. If this thing goes extra there might be a moment where we want Perez running for someone like V-Mart.

I'm just gonna have to disagree I guess. He was the potential third run, Id go with the best option to get that run, and Ramon is definitely not that option.

Is there something Im missing on Santiago being a better third baseman than Peralta? This move also makes little sense to me. Jhonny is slow on the bases and has no range but I don't see Ramon as an upgrade at much of anything.

Personally I feel that Santiago is a pretty good defender at all the IF positions.

I don't think he's bad at any of them. But Jhonny was a third baseman, and is arguably our best hitter(with VMart) lately. I just don't see the advantage. Now we have Kelly hitting with two on in the ninth....(Miggy woulda got walked anyway)

Yes, I think it is. Trying to get that lead run in extras is much bigger than the run to go up by 3 in the 8th.
