I'll admit I am not too much into baseball, but there was only 1 out and he wasn't forced. I would think it would be a go on the contact unless it looks like its going to third like it was.

You can't afford to wait to see where it's hit. Even that slight hesitation to figure out where it was hit could make a big difference if it's hit to any of the infielders.

But then there's two outs and we lost opportunity to tag up on the fly ball to get home.

There woulda been two outs by the time Jackson didnt strike out anyway though.

A question...if a guy swings at strike 3 with men on first and second, could the catcher throw to 2nd or 3rd to get the force? Just wondering when infante check swung if he would of swung the catcher would of had an easier play to get vmart at 3rd.

He could throw to a base for a tag out. But there's no force. Batters out if first is occupied with less than two outs.

Great job Sanchez, but Leyland was wrong, that had all the hallmarks of bad magagering.

I agreed with leaving him in. I don't trust anyone in that pen in a critical situation. Smyly has not pitched well the last month or two. But, unfortunately, we probably get to look at the pen starting with next inning. This is going to feel like the end of the Michigan football game the rest of the way. Hopefully with a better outcome.

Gotta love Iggy getting hit on an 0-2 pitch. Lester didn't allow much, but this wasn't as great of a performance out of him as the box score would lead somebody to believe. Now the Tigers need to get that second run across with him sitting, it'd only be fair.
