Detroit Tigers Ongoing 2013 Thread

Max will be in his walk year next season and with Boras as his agent there are only a handful of teams that could afford him. So I do not think the Tigers will get as much for him as we might think. I really think he stays next season and either signs an extension or gets the dreaded qualifying offer in order to get a supp pick for losing him. The problem is the teams with $$ to sign Max (Yanks) have no prospects and teams with the prospects do not have the $$ to sign him long term.

Remember guys.. next year.. the mlb is getting a new increased tv deal where every team gets an extra 25 mil a yr form tv revenue. The tigers can keep spending.. the only reason I want the tigers to trade max is because i do not think he can maintain this for more than another year... and the tigers already have 2 long term contracts with starters... trade for some young mlb ready talent.. and spend that money somewhere else.... Seriously.. just think about the tigers with smyly in the rotation... and robinson cano at second...

Garza got a top prospet haul... Trust me... A team will pay for a full season of a top flight starter... especially if they intend on working out an extension with him and paying him top dollar to keep him.. believe it or not.. the mariners have plenty of money to spend.. the owner is the owner of nintendo. Just imagine the mariners with scherzer, felix, and iwakuma... it would be a great trade for both teams.

I think you mentioned it before Adrian, but NY doesn't seem like a park suited well for Max. Boston, LA and Aneheim/LA do though. I'd think Texas would have serious interest too. But I agree that the Yanks wouldn't have much of any value to give back for him.

I wouldn't say they got a haul like people are talking about , multiple top prospects. They got Olt who is blocked by Beltre and is the # 61 prospect overall (milb) and the other 2 guys are decent but not great prospects. I would say the Cubs got what they could. I would think the Tigers have to get much more than that to move Max.

Glad Rick got out of that only giving up one. I was honestly wondering if they'd walk Soriano to pitch to ARod with the bases juiced. A little early for that I suppose.

tigers will have 26 mil off the books in 2015 (tori and Victor). they can afford Max. The question is do they go young up the middle in the future with Iggy and Perez/Travis and at DH/OF with youngsters like Nick C and the other corner OF prospects in 2015 and spend $$ on the starters or go younger with staff and try to keep tori and Victor who will be 39 and 36 in 2015. We shall see.

Yeah vice i was thinking same thing....slide smyly into max spot and get cano.....maybe yanks and tigs do a sign and trade....so both get their contracts and both teams get their man....do they do sign and trades in baseball?

Either way it goes....the tigers have alot of ways to go in the future....i like it.....and fans of other teams think we will be handcuffed by prince and JV's contracts. Lol. Thats cleveland and minny fans for ya.
