Exhibit A why I dont frequent the Sharks board. No pride. Most negative fan base I have ever (digitally) been around. We are up 3-2 on a GREAT hockey team, and if the Wings didn't get a few random goals would have won it tonight.

The Rares syndrome is spreading I suppose.

GO SHARKS!!!

Uhh, OK. And Doug Wilson is doing a great job signing guys like Wallin and Huskins and Mayers and.... should I go on?

Keep drinking the teal koolaid, dude.

And yeah, don't come over by the Sharks board. Nobody there knows who you are so we can't say we miss you.

I have to say I hate it when the other team scores more random goals than the team I'm rooting for...

What is a random goal, by the way?

Random goals are goals scored by opposing, inferior teams.

The Wings won that game last night because they scored more goals, didn't panic, waited for their opportunities and capitalized on them. Experience.

They have been there, done that, It will be interesting to see how the Sharks respond now. Do they grip those sticks a bit tighter or just brush off the game and move on.

We will see.

You know, if San Jose didn't score so many random goals the first three games the Redwings would be moving on to the third round by now. :D

random goals...hmm, you mean like throwing a puck towards the net during overtime and having it bounce off a defender's skate into the net?

like that kind of random?

or do you mean the kind of random goals that occur when you outwork your opponent in front of the net?

or do you mean the kind of random goals that occur when a one handed player skates circles around the forward defending him while said forward is caught looking for his nuts on the ice, makes a randomly perfect pass to the point, then the pointman randomly takes a shot at net, which is randomly deflected by a player who randomly outworked the defender in front of the net (again) and made a random deflection into the net (like he randomly does about twenty times per year and which he has randomly done about 232 times in his career and randomly done 45 times in the postseason) all while the goalie randomly looks around to see who randomly fuckin blew it in front of him and while the forward is still randomly looking for his fuckin nuts.

that kind of random?

Why did Joe Pesci in "Goodfellas" immediately come to mind?

Hmmm, I was thinking that these random two youts were on the ice and scored a goal. Oh well, same actor.

Well in case you haven't noticed, I still give the Sharks the overall edge of winning the series by quite a significant margin. I just happen to give the Wings a slight edge in each of the 2 remaining games. I think that slight edge can be justified as the Wings have momentum and will likely be playing with more confidence. Its not like I said they have a 90% chance of winning each of the remaining games. If you disagree that's fine but its not about negativity. Its just my thoughts on the situation. I applied the same logic with the Canucks vs the Hawks.

Obviously, I am a Red Wing fan (no make that a homer) and until the Wings are out of it I will think they will win it. Contrary to my blind fandom, Juliansteed, I agree with you.

Looks like Vegas has Detroit at about -140 to win Game 6 (Sharks at about +120), which looks about right to me.

Couldn't find updated series odds but will check a bit more later.

If anyone else finds them, please post.

As any good fan would. Absolutely no reason to count them out but you are realistic and recognize the odds are at least somewhat against them. Any time a series is at 3-2, 1 team has a pretty significant advantage but the other still has a very realistic chance. When the 2 games your team has won just happen to be the most recent 2 games, I'd say your team has a slightly better chance of coming back than any other team down 3-2.

Didn't Yzerman help the Wings win a series essentially playing on one leg?

Re-reading it I think I was a little harsh on you. You were just analyzing. I do, however, think the Sharks board could use a little less cynicism at times, though haha.

Haha this was funny, but misses my point.

I was trying to imply that the Sharks carried a large portion of the play yesterday, and if that continued, they would be fine. It felt like the Wings scored on half of their scoring chances, and they cannot expect that to keep up. Now, if Games 6 and 7 look more like 3 and 4, the Wings have a good shot of completing the comeback. But they will have to be a lot better than they were in Game 5 to win it.
