Derek Jeter Strikeout Thread

This thread reminds me of the people that used to try to defend Tim Wakefield on the Sox. They would say he is 3rd in career team wins, and second in career team strikeouts!!

To which I would always reply, he is first in these categories:

IP, by a lot
GS, by a lot
HR, by a lot
BB, by a lot
H, by a lot
L, by a lot
ER, by a lot
WP, by a lot
BF, by a lot

He is not near any top tens in any of the rate stats.

He was a complete waste of money for a long time for Boston - and some still treat him like a hero.... I would have rather kept Aaron Sele.

I agree Wakefield's kinda overrated and isn't anywhere remotely close to being a HOFer (or HOVG, for that matter), but there's still plenty of value in a guy having a career 105 ERA+ in over 3000 innings. I don't think he was a waste of money, save for his last two years. He should have retired after 2009.

His career ERA+ (105) matches Jack Morris and is one point higher than Catfish Hunter (though he shouldn't be anywhere near Cooperstown).

Looking more and more like Jetes won't break Perez's record and get into the top 12.

I think he's a lock for #13 all time, though. Lucky number.

Let's just hope he doesn't get injured for 1/3 of the season somehow.

But, really, all I can think while watching this mental gaffe by The Captain in last night’s Yankees-Mariners game is “if Yasiel Puig did this, the world would end.” And because it’s Derek Jeter, I suppose he gets a pass.
