The Captain also went 0-5 tonight.

Anyone else but Jetes gets dropped to the six-hole but Joe doesn't dare do that to The Captain or Yanks fans will burn the Bronx down. :L Now batting .260 on the year.

Bases Loaded, Shields gets him 0-2 and then K's him, Royals follow that with 2 runs. Jete's costin the yanks another one, but he was able to come through with all kinds of interviews before the game on his farewell to Kaughman stadium.

Fun fact: Tulo's SLG% is higher than Jeter's OPS.

This thread reminds me of the people that used to try to defend Tim Wakefield on the Sox. They would say he is 3rd in career team wins, and second in career team strikeouts!!

To which I would always reply, he is first in these categories:

IP, by a lot
GS, by a lot
HR, by a lot
BB, by a lot
H, by a lot
L, by a lot
ER, by a lot
WP, by a lot
BF, by a lot

He is not near any top tens in any of the rate stats.

He was a complete waste of money for a long time for Boston - and some still treat him like a hero.... I would have rather kept Aaron Sele.

For two seasons maybe. A little less than 300 innings out of 3,000+. And he had that perpetual $4 million option for a long time while he was pumping out league average seasons, which was a bargain... and even though he wasn't good in those 2 years they were even cheaper than that anyway. Say what you want about Tim Wakefield's ability and/or personality but he really wasn't a waste of money, he was good value.
