Really hoping Jetes stays healthy so he can maybe break into the top 12 over Perez.

I think he has a real shot!

I love how HammerDown updates this thread but has no answer as to how Derek distracts the team with his retirement circus.

Jete 4 for 4 so far today. Suck on that lemon you haters!

Jeter just struck out on a pitch down the pipe but has to do his trademark pause and cocky grin at the plate like it's all just so beneath him.

Listening to Tim McCarver fawn all over Jeter and Roidier simultaneously today was purely revolting. And how about Roidier throwing out Brett "Wheels" Gardner and the St. Louis fans pretending like they just won the World Series? Puhlease. A standing ovation? :L

"Masterful. Just masterful!" - Tim McCarver

The only .270 hitter I've ever seen whose "masterful." :L

Maybe he didn't agree with the strike call? He currently sits 4th in batting AVG among all AL shortstops.

The bottom line is this thread is useless horseshit. You boneheads post his strikeouts, but you don't post all the impressive stats that pave his way to the hall of fame.

He's only struck out 11 times in the past 11 days.

Jeter sycophants should be happy.

he's 5th among shortstops in BA. But he's also 17th in wOBA. And 20th in WAR.

His weighted average illustrates why no one really uses BA... but 17th is still pretty good. And 20th in WAR aint bad either....

He deserved to be in the HOF. As does Alan Trammell.

He SHO' did! Petty thread is petty ignorant. Jeter's AB/SO ratio of 1 strikeout every 16.5 at bats actually ranks him in the top 1000(864th) to ever play the game.

Strikeout Percentage All Time Leaders on Baseball Almanac

Give the man his due:

8th all-time in hits
10th all-time in runs scored
14th all-time in plate appearances
34th all-time in games played(will move into top 30 by seasons' end)
Tied for 35th all-time in doubles
Tied for 74th all-time in batting average
