Cowlishaw on Darvish: And this was better than most of Darvish's recent outings. He had just two quality starts in his last seven before Monday night. Still, nine hits are a lot to surrender to this Yankee squad. The lifeless bottom of New York's order (7-8-9 hitters) went 0-for-7 against Darvish, but the top six swung away to go 9-for-19 with the pair of Gardner solo home runs.

So it's too soon to say Darvish is out of the woods. He has coughed up eight home runs in his last 43 innings after allowing just five in his first 90.

Of all the things Rangers fans would like to see in these last two months before the curtain falls on a miserable season — Shin-Soo Choo looking healthier and being more productive, Derek Holland getting some decent starts in September, Neftali Feliz resurrecting his career as a closer — none match the importance of Darvish looking the part of a dominant ace of the staff.

Choo has looked more productive recently and that's a plus

McCann was a big help too.

This from DMN:

The bats: J.P. Arencibia knocked in the two go-ahead runs with a single in the fifth inning. Arencibia leads the team in RBIs since the All-Star break with nine. … Alex Rios was the only Ranger with multiple hits on the day. He went 2-for-4 to raise his average back over .300. … Shin-Soo Choo doubled to right field in the third inning. It was his third extra-base hit in 79 plate appearances.

Roman Mendez might be the Rangers’ latest find as they search the rubble of their lost season for useful pieces. After a perfect outing on Sunday, Mendez now hasn’t allowed a run in 11 innings since being called up from Triple-A Round Rock in early July. Just eight of the 41 batters he’s faced have reached base.

On Tepesch: He’ll throw a bullpen session in the next couple of days, which will mark the first time he tests the knee of the mound. Rangers manager Ron Washington said if Tepesch gets through the session and has no trouble afterwards he’ll be back in the rotation. If Tepesch isn’t ready, Williams might another opportunity. Williams allowed one run in six innings on Friday in his Rangers debut but is yet to receive a commitment on a second start.

Washington said he’ll wait until Wednesday to determine his rotation for the rest of the week.

Don't forget about COL. They lost.

The Rockies are awful. Although I found this funny...

over the weekend they had a Troy Tulowitzki jersey give away day. But they spelled Tulo's name wrong. Way to go Rockies!

I've gotta admit something.....I thought I'd get at least one comment regarding the title of the thread. Not word one.

I'm just not as clever as I like to think I guess.

We all know the Yankees aren't that good this year, and it's the Jeter show. Puke...

Jeter is washed up. Not very good anymore, I doubt his team makes the playoffs.

Well you and Rev certainly didn't get the play on words for shit.

There was band Damn Yankees featuring lead singer Ted Nugent.

Shit....a nod and a wink......oh, never mind.

He is washed up. Even washed up guys have 3 hit nights. They are still professionals after all.

I forgot all about that horrible power group....I thought it was a nod to the musical. Thanks for the musical reminder of something truly hard to listen to! haha

Slowed down yes due to age and retiring. Washed up no. Just taking it to the barn.

:pound:.....ya know I thought the band sucked. In fact, I'm sure of it. I was just a little surprised no one picked up on it.

However, Nugent and their other singer, Tommy Shaw, sang the National Anthem at the old Ranger stadium and it was absolutely beautiful. Stunned the entire crowd....especially me, I think. And I swear, it was a wonderful rendition.

When they were done, the crowd (19,000) cheered wildly, and we were all looking around and chatting like, "who are these fucking guys."

I see 2 runs in our immediate future, ok maybe through 7 is not that immediate

Seems like I saw today the other team is hitting like .269 against him, yet no one has scored much yet.
