How did Dallas improve on defense?
OH...so you turn to the defense....funny

Scandrick pushes Mo or Carr to 3rd corner = improvement
Byron Jones is in his 2nd year and starting the season at safety = improvement
Cedric Thornton is a good player for the dline = improvement...Mayowa too
Hitchens starting at middle along side of Sean Lee = improvement

Demarcus Lawrence is a comer seeing his first two seasons of development and will be missed the first 4 games. Gregory is a 3rd down rusher that hasn't done jack to date. Think they will be fine with him out the first 4 weeks. There is dline talent with Thornton, Mayowa, Jack Crawford, Tyron Crawford, David Irving, Okoye and if you count rookies....so can I, the d-cord says Charles Tapper will play a role this year. That coach is the best defensive football coach in this division....HANDS Down!

I think Dallas can stay with any other NFC east defense. Kinda thinking they might be the division's best

what else?
Special Teams? Our kicker ain't half bad!

Besides Lee and Scandrick you have a bunch of no names. They are going to need Romo to score 28 every week.

I agree with your points. But experts are saying the Cowboys are going to be a run controlled offense. If you want to play like that you must finish drives with TD's. Plus you must make teams go three and out. The Panthers did this last year and were successful. BUT the Panthers defense was one of the best in the league. I believe teams will score easily against Dallas' defense. Forcing Dallas to throw a lot to catch up. I think they are very similar to the 2015 Saints. No there defense wont be that bad but all their games will be shootouts. Romo will be slinging it again. I don't believe the run controlled BS.

Or maybe Dallas will score a lot and force teams to play catch up instead of only averaging 17 points a game like they did last year.

Plus you have to factor in that NYG, Phil, and WASH all have upgraded defenses than last year. Well at least on paper. Now you bring Dez into the equation when he doesn't see targets he will blow a fuse. Run controlled offenses are very rare in the NFL these days. Carolina did do this last year but Dallas simply does not have the defensive talent like Carolina did to pull it off. Plus Cam running was a big factor.

The Cowboys did it in 2014 with far less talent on defense. Why do you keep ignoring 2014? Nobody is saying Dallas will repeat that season, but the formula is there and they have the right offensive line(if healthy) and QB(also if healthy) to do it. They also have the right defensive coach in Marinelli who always gets the most out of his players despite the talent. Wouldn't hurt to have a healthy Dez either. And speaking of him, he will blow a fuse? What does that have to do with anything?

Run controlled offenses are rare? Chiefs, Bucs, Panthers, Bills, Seahawks, Bears, Texans, Bengals, Vikings, Rams, and Cowboys all had run controlled offenses last year. The Broncos rushed it 28 times in the Super Bowl and pounded the rock all playoffs. That's like a third of the league. How is that rare? Just because of the common misconception that it's a passing league, doesn't mean nobody runs the ball first anymore. Doesn't matter how much the other teams in the East have upgraded. Dallas still has an elite line(knock on wood for health) and if they get above average QB play, they will have an above average running game, period.

I just don't buy it. Some fantasy football sites have Elliot as the 3rd best RB. How? When he is in a RBBC? I think this theory of running the ball is a huge smoke screen. To repeat what Murray did two years ago is a very tall order. He had 2200 total yards and 13Td's. If Elliot does that this year you guys can bust my chops all you want. I just cant see it. Especially in a RBBC.
Theory? Cowboys has had the #1 rated offensive line two years in a row. You are foolish if you think this is just a theory. The Cowboys will pound the ball and a lot. Whether or not they win is up in the air, but they will pound the rock. They pounded it last year but it's hard to be successful running the ball when your best receiver is hurt/ineffective and your QB can't move the chains.

Most defenses have two great players with a bunch of no names. Aside from the team(s) you follow, you aren't gonna know most defensive players in the NFL. I can't name one great player besides Norman and Kerrigan from Washington. Same with Watt on the Texans. Seattle and Denver are probably the only two teams I can name more than two prominent defensive players. It's about scheme, not names. Step your game up.

you asked...twice

I think the level of football talk has surpassed you abilities here, you seem to be stuck
If that isn't Warpath/Bovey, I'd be very surprised.

Projected starters:
DT Jordan Hill, DT Ahtyba Rubin; DE Michael Bennett, DE Cliff Avril; LB K.J. Wright, MLB Bobby Wagner, LB Michael Morgan

Other names to know: DT Jarran Reed, DT Sealver Siliga; DE Frank Clark, DE Chris Clemons; LB Kevin Pierre-Louis

I don't know if Seattle is #2 but they certainly do have a high quality front 7, and the word around here is that Jarran Reed is expected to come in and be a starter right away, pushing down Hill. The competition for Irvin's vacated starting LB spot is also wide open, and a different scheme may have as much of a chance to win the battle as a person.

You don't know who Breeland, Junior Galette, or D. hall? Preston Smith. These names don't ring a bell for you? Step up my game are you serious?

Dez is not a headcase when he doesn't get his way? lol. Yes this is a passing league you are foolish if you don't believe that. I never said anything about the Cowboys oline. I said Elliot himself wont have great numbers b/c he is in a RBBC.

I think the level of pro football talk has surpassed your abilities b/c you are one of the few who think Dallas will have a decent defense this year. Or even compare it to Washington's.

Don't know who those guys are. I just don't believe the hype with Dallas. Basing this years team on 2014 is a stretch. Would you be shocked if Cousins has a better year than Romo?

Yep that's me
tell me again how I'm one of the few that thinks Dallas's defense will be as good or better than the other teams confined within the NFC east. Lets not lose focus on the topic at hand.

this remains the pep squad part with no rational thought process.

I'm tapping out dean....side show ground hog day stuff bores me real quick. Think I'll just read the mindless dribble from here on out with regards to your input on anything Dallas.

Perhaps we as Dallas fans just remember all the talk about how we were the worst defense in the history of the league in 2013 and would be even worse in 2014 even though we tried to explain to everyone that it was mostly injuries and we would absolutely be better the next year and guess what? We weren't bad in 2014.

Here is a trivia question for you. With all the talk of how historically horrible the Dallas defense was in 2013 and how crappy we were last year and all the talk from you about how much better the Washington defense is than the Dallas defense coming off of last year and with your plethora of talent...who do you think gave up more points in each of the last three seasons, Dallas or Washington??? Feel free to address each year separately or as one

we are all on the edge of our seats awaiting your response...

History does not matter. I am talking about 2016. Everyone is picking Dallas to win the division by a landslide and I think its major hype. As a whole I believe the Redskins have more talent on offense and defense. In major areas such as pass rusher, CB, TE, and Wr the Redskins depth is just better. You guys have all your eggs in one basket with Dez. Its just my opinion that you guys are going to be in some major shootouts this year. That is why I brought up the 2015 Saints comparison. We will see how it all plays out. I wasn't on this NFL Forum board last year so I don't know what you are talking about.

Now history doesn't matter all of a sudden because it hurts your argument? OK, so you are so confident that Washington will be a millions times better on defense and it's based on nothing but what you think may change?

Saying everyone is picking Dallas to win the division by a landslide is completely asinine and incorrect. I'd say it's kind of even, but even if more people are picking Dallas I've yet to see ANYONE state it will be in a landslide

I for one am thinking the Giants could be the team to watch, but your opinion on the division and Washington could very well be correct. I just think your parameters change based on the topic at hand.
