Oh I totally get that SoCal, it's very difficult to give a grade to a defensive back based on stats. But the penalty stat does not lie. Just by the eye test I'm sorry, there it's really hard for me to justify a $20 cap hit while we spend the week determining if the QB who is by far the biggest reason for the move from 5 wins to division champs is worth $24 mil. Not saying you are offering excuses, more like sound reasoning, but it is kind of strange when I read posters claim this guy is living up to a contract that will cost us $20 million in cap space. Not to mention all the noise that comes from him.

I watched that second personal foul penalty near the goal line as our season was about to be killed and it was downright embarrassing what he did and how he reacted after. Rak got way more heat for claiming he was held (which was totally true) and how he was not a difference maker. We all said he was not worth the money. Yet nobody is saying that about Josh Norman who makes a whole lot more.

No disagreements about the penalties or some of the excess talking (especially in the press conf after the Bengals game - that was an embarrassment). I look at this as totally separate from the Cousins contract since it is already done. Is Norman worth less than what he is paid? Probably but it is just the cost of acquiring someone like him & yes I am glad that he is on the team.

Having said that I am onboard with extending Cousins as long as it is not a completely ridiculous contract. No doubt he will get very big money & it is deserved in this era.

I just think it's odd that so many people have strong opinions about Kirk, a guy who has done nothing but say the right things, behaved the right way, and played pretty well and not a peep about Josh Norman from the fans.

While Josh does count 20 mil next, he only counted 8 this year which means he is responsible for about 6 million in rollover. Had he been a 14 mil hit this year, he would only be 14 next.

For a very long time this organization and the fans have shown alot of love to free agents we bring in, and a lack of that same kind of love for Players we drafted. There have been a could of exceptions mind you.... Trent, Kerrrigan. But by and large, thats been the formula.

For a long time this organization has only drafted second tier players and generally filled the rosters with free agents. There probably were a couple of exceptions, but that says more about the state of the team, the lack of talent on it, and fans displeasure with the crap that these exceptional players had to work with.

I just don't agree with the BPA mentality. This isn't the NBA or MLB where you literally draft the best player on the board. Drafting the BPA is a good way to go when you are either a bottom 5 team or a top 5 team. The vast majority of the league would probably take the BPA at a position of need.

Drafting the BPA is just collecting talent and not building a team. Again, its a great philosophy in MLB and the NBA to certain extent. If we do not address DL in FA and we do the same thing we did in the 2016 draft and take BPA, then SM should be fired. Common sense tells you that you must build the trenches first and if SM doesn't understand that, then he needs to go.

I do think that he understands that and will not make the same mistake twice. I think he knows he made a big mistake and will give the DLine and the defense some much needed attention this offseason.

Using the BPA philosophy shaped San Francisco and Seattle into Superbowl contenders and winners. Once is a coincidence twice is a pattern.
