I don't think that's seeing the whole picture.

They have lost on some big plays, but overall those pass rushing stats our front 7 are posting are helped by good coverage down the field.
True but goes both ways. As in the secondary's stats are helped by the pass rush.

Absolutely, it's symbiotic and hard to choose how much one side is helping the other.

Haden and Nelson have been beat this season, it happens. But overall this defense has been crazy good.

I will admit my position on the secondary has lightened up a bit... After watching all of these supposed stout defenses get shredded around the league.

It really boils down to the big play & possession downs being a semi-weakness. I'm hopeful that they figured out a great strategy in the 2nd half of the HOU game when they masterminded using Minkah as a chess piece for 2 quarters. They figured out that Watson was keying on Minkah's position so they started moving him around all over the field pre-snap to disguise coverages. It completely changed the way the Houston offense attacked the defense, and they pitched a shutout.

Letting Minkah have some freedom is going to help this D going forward. He's a superstar and needs to be able to play like one.

Just locking down 1/3 of the field is VERY useful, but he needs to be allowed to be a playmaker.

In your opinion is that why Minkah has been a ghost in the stat sheets so far this year? I know his impact is still huge even if not.

Just curious about what has changed with his usage from last year. Or is it as simple as teams are simply throwing away from him & scheming for him? I admit I didn't watch a ton of all-22 film/highlights last year so I was blind to most of it. Results spoke for themselves.

Yup. He had an all-pro year last year.

Any QB and OCoord will first and foremost plan to Find Minkah, and then throw somewhere else.

They were doing the same thing towards the end of last season, which is why his stats dropped off. That's why he was talking about moving around some at the end, and in the offseason.

He still has tremendous value in erasing 1/3 of the field of play, but he can do more.

FAs:
Hilton
Sutton

Rostered:
Haden
Nelson
Layne
Pierre

I’m really hoping they can find a way to keep Hilton & Sutton. Honestly I like Sutton more than Nelson. Haden is getting up there in years but still playing at a very high level. Layne regressed and got leapfrogged by UDFA Pierre. Not really sure he’s going to work out

To keep one or both of Hilton or Sutton, Haden has to go.

Too much money, and hard decisions have to be made, even if he's still playing at a high level. Need to look to the future a bit here.

100% agree. At this point, I would keep Hilton and let Sutton and Haden walk.

Slot CB is a starter in today's NFL. He's just as important as an outside corner.
I know. But if the trade iff is haden.... someones gotta take the other guys top guy.... so it kinda matters
