That's a lot of defensemen
Wow, that money practically guarantees he is in the NHL. Something has to give
Nicklas Grossmann is good as gone - with a new coach that seems like he wants to push the pace, he doesn't seem like a great fit
odd move. that HAS to mean some defensemen are gonna get moved. i mean, c'mon, 8 defensemen under contract plus the possibility of a guy like morin making the team? something's gotta give. a 32-year old russian doesn't sign a 1 year 3 mil dollar deal unless he's part of this team's starting 6. also.. this guy was on the russian national team that skated off during the canadian anthem after the gold medal game.. curious if he was one of them or one of the ones who tried to stay on the ice..
gotta have a partner to take him though.
does it make more sense to trade Grossmann and a 5th round pick for a 6th round pick. or does it make more sense to trade LSchenn for a 4th round pick?
I think he's top 6 regardless of what his contract is. He's been a staple on the Russian national team for years. That's likely better than most of the guys the flyers had on the backend last year.
As for skating off, I'm not concerned about that one bit. Pissed off about losing to Canada in the gold medal game, who knows how Russia handles post-games like that. Maybe his a bit of a sore loser, I'm more concerned what he can do to make the flyers a winner.
Strehle retweeted someone just now that said Medvedev told her Burmistrov is coming to the NHL too. Burmistrov and Medvedev friends? Burmistrov to the Flyers?
Head case, but a talented head case.

Is this a sign that MDZ wants too much $$$?
from reading around, I'm definitely concerned about this. Hextall continues to say signing him is the plan, but if it were that cut and dry, you'd think he'd be signed already.
he is a bit of a tricky case though. very up and down career, last year of RFA. based on Hexy's past signings, I bet the flyers are trying to get him for a year or 2 at the same price the MDZ camp wants long term. Hexy is probably thinking 1-2 years in the 3-4 mil range, MDZ's camp is probably thinking 4-5 years in the 4-5 mil range.
just speculation on my part, but I could definitely see the sides being fairly far apart.
