Tox, for Northern and Musky, Mepps Spinners are theee way to go.

You will never fail with a Mepps Spinner. They're about $6 a pop, but they'll last you a good while.

Yeah, I like Mepps spinners too, Bit they're not as durable as a 5 diamonds spoon. A big northern will tear it up.

For Northern I run a Mepps #3 and really haven't had much of a problem with them tearing it up.

I always figure if I can make one spinner last me each trip, that's not too bad. I'll pay $6 every time I go fishing without hesitation. I just don't want to pay $30 every time I go.

The only problem I've had is with the main stem getting bent every now and then......but they're easy to bend back into place en sech.

When compared with other spinners I don't get nearly as many hits.

I've never had a bite on a spoon. Not once. Not ever, but I'm not afraid to keep on trying em.

I see Akuna makes a 5 diamond knock off..

Stick with the daredevil shaped one. I've never failed to catch northerns (of all sizes) on it. Particularly in the spring when the big northerns are in the shallows.

5 Diamonds works and is durable. Mine are all scratched up but they still work.

Don't know if it's a regional thing or not (Great Plains). But I don't think so. I've used them up in Minnesota, Manitoba and NW Ontario and they worked just as well.
