yea WVU doesn't have many options (though the basketball is good here too)unless the BIG would want OU or KU and WVU for an east/west move but I wouldn't think so, they would prob take UConn first for the tv market.

If OU bolts, I'm hoping they and KU take their talents to B1G territory.

It would be WVU's best interests to hitch their wagons to UConn and try to get into the ACC as a package deal.

OU won't do it because of two reasons. First, we want to keep our recruiting ties strong in Texas and enhance them either with being an SEC member or joining the Pac 12 and mining for talent in California even more than we do now. And second, the vast majority of Sooners fans could care less about playing B1G schools with the exceptions of Michigan, Ohio State and Nebraska. We remember what it was like to play in Lincoln in November.

Nebraska fans had the same qualms about joining the conference. Their membership has worked out pretty well for them.

Your recruiting ties can remain strong by simply keeping the RRSO alive. It's not like players in the state of Texas are going to forget who the university of oklahoma is just because they aren't in the B12 anymore.

IMO, joining the PAC would hurt recruiting far more than joining the B1G. Away games would be low viewership due to the time zone difference and the distances are much further. I don't know that being an SEC member would enhance recruiting at all either. It might if you happen to have a lot of success in the conference, but if you're just an also-ran member like Arkansas, your recruiting isn't going to get any better.

I've always thought Hawaii was an intriguing option for the PAC. With the NCAA rules it allows you to add an extra home game when you play them away, great recruiting tool to be able to say you get a free trip to Hawaii and it opens the Pacific Islands up to your brand.

Is it worth it? Probably not but it is interesting.
The issue with Hawaii (and any conference) has always been the other sports. Football is only one trip every other year. We were in the WAC with them.

Baylor's academics make them pretty appealing and that will the political choice in the state so I could see it happening. It would be an interesting marriage though.

13K enrolled and its ranked 72nd by US News. Small school and they are not RIce

Those Huskers are tougher than we are. They can thrive playing in the snow. OU doesn't even want to try to get in mental shape to play cold weather games for at least a month at the end of the season.

Recruiting would blossom in California if we played on the Left Coast. And OU fans would watch games at 3 AM; we love our football. I also don't think for a minute we would fall to Arkansas' level in the SEC. One more consideration for moving to the Pac 12: there are lot OU alums on the Left Coast and happy alums make new, better donors to the university.

I am not sure why people say

You will just see 5pm games, so it will start at 8 eastern

It could bolster Cali recruiting, but you likely won't be playing a ton of games in the state. If I had to guess, the PAC would place OU in with AZ, ASU, Utah, Colorado, your travel partner from the B12, and 1 Cali school. Anyone's guess who that might be.

The best thing the PAC could offer is the chance to keep more of your existing rivalries intact. If you left with Okie St, you can keep bedlam and schedule the RRSO in OOC. The B1G will not be taking in Okie St, so it would be difficult to maintain that rivalry and the RRSO in OOC play...well it would just make for tough schedules, which might be a good thing for a football fan actually.

Because PAC12 games ARE often lower viewership for that very reason.

(I do think the SEC might come into the conversation for Kansas since it is Flag school, has an incredible basketball history with national appeal and the geography makes more sense).
Its geography, and its history more importantly, does not make sense at all for Kansas in the SEC. The only thing KU would want would be a revival with Mizzou for the Border War game at most. If KU moves, it'll either be to the B1G or AAC...

Lot of their late games have poor viewership. Those are the night games featuring PAC teams. I am saying you will likely see them start a little earlier if the are playing a Texas or OU. Just because you have Washington and Washington State play at 8 pacific does not mean you do the same for Washington/OU

2 most powerful programs in the PAC are UCLA and USC. I have a hard time believing they would want to face the north and not play in Texas.

You are assuming Texas would go with OU to the PAC. I'd think its more they go Indy. They already have their own TV network and would be free to schedule as they please.

Edit: best case scenario for OU would be if they jettisoned off Utah to the northern division and put USC & UCLA in with the AZ schools, B12 schools, and Colorado.

They are not going Indy. Better chance that there is a new level in CFB than Texas goes independent

I was just talking if they went larger and picked up both. I am just thinking from a power perspective. I would think the biggest revenue schools will flex their influence and lock up a game in either Cali or Texas as frequently as possible. It would create a whole new squabble in the PAC

Would make for a solid conference and fun football in that south division. The north division is a little light with just Stanford and Oregon holding it up, but not terrible.

All the other B12 schools (minus Kansas) would be screwed.

I'm probably a broken record at this point but the longhorn network was the only thing stopping the pac 12 big 12 merger few years ago. Would have been a super conference. Now nobody watches the longhorn network and nobody can get the pac network. My what could have been.

It would be nice seeing an OU/USC game on a semi-regular basis wouldn't it? I've gone to that game in Norman and L.A. Helluva experience every time.
