This dude is delusional. Thanks for the laugh Revis. Jets fans can laugh at him as they kick him out the building.

Cornerback Darrelle Revis insists the New York Jets hold the cards on his remaining with the team, but that it depends on whether they treat his "situation with class or no class."

Revis, speaking to the New York Post, said he wants to retire with the Jets and isn't approaching Sunday's finale as his last game with the team despite a heavy contract that appears to many as an overextended deal for a cornerback who is well past his prime.

"Would I love to be here? Yes," Revis said in a locker-room interview with the Post. "Will I be back? That's a great question. My thing would be this: Do the New York Jets want to treat my situation with class or no class? With me being one of the best players in the history of this franchise, do they want me to retire here or not retire here?"

Revis, 31, added that it wasn't a nuanced issue.

"That's the biggest question," Revis said. "It's black and white. It's not very complicated."

Revis has played for the Jets, New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, amassing career earnings of $118 million, according to Spotrac. He's currently in the second year of a five-year, $70 million contract that includes $39 million in fully guaranteed money.

"I've been one of the best cornerbacks to ever play this game," Revis said, according to the Post. "I've done a lot of things in this league that a lot of guys currently playing are chasing now. I've impacted the game in a way where it was like, 'Hey, he doesn't give up any catches to the No. 1 [receiver].' I set a precedent."

Revis, who said he still loves the game and can still play, likened the Jets to his girlfriend and said his contract status was similar to dealing with a possible breakup.

"And we've been dating for a long time -- many years," Revis said. "She's been great to me and I appreciate it. I love my girlfriend."

I saw this earlier and almost puked. He'd love to stay there as long as you're willing to overpay for him. Gotta love diva DBs talking more nonesense than the diva WRs in the NFL.

No one chased the money like Revis. Only a matter of time before it slams the door on his ass

Revis was never an all time great, not even close. He had a couple of great years and was certainly a product of the NYC hype machine, but you gotta go way down the list of all-timers to find his name.

I believe he was....he is without doubt the best of his generation, and given this pass happy era, that speaks volumes. He's a massive reason why the Pats won their last SB, whether you like it or not.

100%

Nothing like I've ever seen in his prime. Absolutely locked down and shut down every single great receiver he ever faced when he was at his best. Biggest reason by far for the 2 AFC title game appearances

You believe wrong. He was still pretty good during his time in New England, but was never one of the best ever.

Seriously, look at the list of all time great CB's and tell me with a straight face you would put Revis anywhere near the top.

Top 10? No fucking way. Top 20? Still no fucking way. Top 30? Well, now we are getting quite far from all time great aren't we?

BTW, Revis got roasted at several key points in the Pats SB run and that is why is doing his fat and happy routine in NY instead of Foxboro.

You think he is better than Deion Sanders for one? Ronnie Lott was one of my favs and Rod Woodson too. Lott would lay the wood like no one ever. Ty Law as the best cornerback Pats have had and I don't care for the guy personally

We would be...but he is far more than top 30. In his prime, he's easily top 10. He's the guy who was universally regarded as THE best cornerback in football. He's the measuring stick when it comes to 'travelling' with the top receiver and shutting them down. 4 first team all pro, 2009 NFL DPOY.....and just by coincidence, the Pats win a SB in a decade during the one season that Revis is a Pat - which in many ways is what Deion Sanders did with SF.

Considering during his career, the game has never been as pass happy. You put Revis in every era prior, all more defensive oriented, he'd be even more dominant.

He's certainly a generational talent - the best cornerback in the last 10 years. His place is right there with Night Train Lane, Mel Blount, Mike Haynes and Deion Sanders.

I think Mike Haynes is the best DB to ever play in New England. Too bad he left for greener pastures.

Ty Law was pretty damn good too. I never paid much attention to anything he did off the field so I other than being a guy who wanted all the money, he never bugged me too much.

True forgot all about him, the early dark Patriot days. Law came to mind because he was here for 3 SB wins, like some here saying Revis was the reason Pats won the SB a few years back. I had mentioned this earlier but when the pats used to practice at Bryant college in Smithfield they were right around the corner from me and used to stop by alot. Law was the only cock one and a cheap bastard to boot. He also called a friend of mine a few years ago and wanted to buy a used Crown Vic for his dad, didn't want to spend too much

I thought the reason NE won was because we brought Brandon Browner in. After all he has more rings than Bevis.

If by universally, you mean NYC I can't disagree with that.

It's your opinion that he would have been more dominant in the "downfield passing" days of the 70's and 80's when there were fewer passing attempts, usually done to stretch the field and DBs had to be able to tackle on the more prevalent running plays. I don't share that opinion.

Let me ask you this though, how come "in this pass happy era" he has a meager 28 career INTs? More opportunities equals more results, no? Hell, there at least 3 linebackers who have more career INTs than he does.
