He just turned 31. Josina Anderson says there is more coming for the Eagles. A report says that Jones might be had for a 2nd + later picks. If so, I'd do that in a NY minute!! With Slay & Jones = "the future is now"! We could target a top CB in the draft if this would happen. Just dreamin'.
for a 2nd round pick heck yes. I would love to move up to get Okudah, but that would be quite a haul of picks to move up around3. I think the Lions would deal there pick possibly?

No, he is too old, and he is hurt a lot.

Slay just turned 29 in January ... Its still better than Chris Harris who turns 31 in June. How old is Richard Sherman who had a great year in San Fran?

The Julio rumor may be just that, but Atlanta is retooling/rebuilding, and if hey get a boatload of picks, may be looking to pick Lamb in the 1st. Stay tuned.

A 3rd and a 5th is a great deal for the Birds. 2019 was a bit of a lost season for Slay as he battled through some injuries and distractions were there with contract issues and possible trade looming. I think he gets back on his game this year on a contending team with his deal in place. This is a huge get for the Eagles along with an upgraded DLine who is not just adding Javon Hargrave, but also getting back a 100% Malik Jackson who wasn't able to play in 2019 after getting hurt game 1.

He will be the best CB on the Eagles by far. At his best, two years ago, he was a top 5 CB. I’d still put him as a top 10 CB now. Only giving up a 3rd and 5th is a great deal for Philly.

Pisses me off as a Detroit fan, but doesn’t surprise me

If Slay can even be in the top 15 of Corners the next few years ... Its worth it for the Eagles. We were putrid at outside Corner last season, so to add a player like Slay should pay major dividends.

:agree: I think he'll make the pro bowl, as he has most of his career. He'll wow the fans.

Here’s the thing about Julio.....it’s not win now. I would not send even a second for him. He could be great for a few years....while we are getting the rest up to speed. That’s a waste to me.

$50M over 3 years with $30M guaranteed. First thought was “Jesus!”

But second thought....that’s a lot less than Jones. And I don’t think there is commiserate drop off between what Jones and Slay will do in the next three years.

There you go, Howie!

Yeah, Jones and Slay are around the same tier coverage wise … Slay does have 13 Int's in the past 3 years though compared to Jones who has just 1 in the same time frame. Jones is younger though and has the ability to move to Safety ala Malcolm Jenkins later in his career, but like you said … there probably won't be much difference between the 2 in the following 2-3 years. It was a must make move for the Eagles as you simply can't go into the season with Sidney Jones or Rasul Douglas as your #1. Hell, I'm hoping we draft a better option at #2 and those guys slide into the #3 or #4 role outside. I think there's still a chance Sidney Jones or Douglas gets moved during or after the draft if we use a high pick on Corner.

After the word is that the Eagles would not pay heavily at the WR position? Passed on Cooper, balked on Hopkins. Don't get your hopes up.

I was very high on Slay coming out of college. He’s an immediate upgrade and along with a better push from the DL the Eagles should be much improved. Nice move. Now how about some WR’s and LB’s.

The draft is where we want or need to upgrade the WR position. Draft 3 if you have to, I'm still a fan for trading up in the right scenario

I think we're done as far as high priced guys ... we didn'y have a lot of room under the 2021 Cap and now have to work in Slay and Hargrave on top of it. Can't imagine how we would fit Ngakoue on top of it ... plus there would go our 1st and likely 2nd in trade.

Perhaps we could work it out to send Jeffrey, a 1st, and a 3rd.
