According to a number of articles, the injuries Dario Franchitti sustained in Houston has put his continuance in racing as a driver in the high-risk medical category. He has decided to retire from driving and is going to work in an off-the-track capacity for Chip Ganassi Racing. The four-time champ, and three-time Indy champ stated that medical staff and doctors have advised him to give up driving and he is heeding their advice.
I see Franchitti eventually becoming a team owner as the IRL has plenty of room for additional teams. In the immediate future he'll hang with Ganassi but eventually I see him forming his own team much in the same manner as Jimmie Vasser, Sarah Fisher, Bryan Herta, and Michael Andretti.
