How long before Sabean "kicks the tires" ?
What's with the cynicism? He'd cost us very little (ML minimum plus a roster spot). Continues to suck? Buh, bye...
The roster spot, I think, is too much to spend. Unless they 60 Pagan, but then they would still need to clear a 25 spot...
And my fear is melon-head would play "the vet" no matter how poorly he played.
Admittedly, he looks done.
As much as I'm not a Uggla fan .... it brings back memories of the Burrell signing ... he was horrid for TB for the 2009 and beginning of 2010 ... we found gold on that pick up. Cody Ross is also similar but not as dramatic as Burrell .... The price to trade is going to be high ... very high ... wonder how much we are willing to give up ...
TRADE? DO ... or DO NOT. There is no TRADE. {My apologies to Yoda.}
Uggla was *released*. He is a *free agent*. No trade necessary.

Maybe a change of scenery will help Uggla, but I doubt it. He had every chance in Atlanta. He's done.
He swings around every ball, his contact nowadays is mostly pop ups and weak grounders resulting from trying to pull a ball that needs to be hit the other way.
He's really not much of a power threat anymore either. Both of his home runs this season came in that crazy game in Philadelphia along with 5 of his 10 RBIs.
And since he's one of the worst defensive second basemen in the Majors, he really has no value.
I wish him well(unless he signs with a division rival), I always liked his attitude until the last couple of weeks. Some team will give him a shot. He will fail. He'll either retire or play in Japan in 2015.
In these parts, we used to call those "Huffers".
ESPN reporting he is going to SF or Cinci and that the Giants have shown strong interest in him.
