Damn Yankees @ White Sox

I grew up hating the Yankees - still don't like them even though my brother played pro-ball in the Yankees minor league teams.

Dylan Cease goes for the Sox tonight (thank you Covid). The Yanks are off to a great start in the standings the Sox need momentum. Time to unlimber the lumber. Go Sox!

Yanks bringing up a 23 year old (Gil) from the minors today due to the double header on Sunday. The kid looked good early last year and then got clocked and sent back down. Not sure what to expect from him.

This is why I never got on the "Leury sucks" train. He's never great, but always rock solid. I've never been so confused as when people were calling for Leury's head over 3-4 bad weeks. I don't really get how many sports fans fail to understand the concept of "small sample sizes".

It looks like he has really good stuff, but struggled badly with command of it in that inning. 3-2 pitch to Engel was nice, though.

This lineup is going to utterly torch Kuechel. Too many right handed bats with power for him to have a prayer of containing in our tiny tonka toy ball park.

Well hell - the sox appear overmatched against the Yankees at the moment. The Sox are better than that - and the Yankees not quite so good - I expect.

Sad to say, we are clearly the inferior team, at least at this point. A ton of season left, but right now we're barely looking like a playoff caliber club, let alone championship material. Can't quite explain why, on paper we seem to have a solid roster. But we're just not playing up to snuff. I know we've been affected by injuries, but that alone doesn't explain it all.

It's possible. Every year a team or two rises up that no one saw coming and every year a team or two does crappy that surprises people.

So maybe this year the surprise good teams are the Angels and/or Dbacks. And the surprise bad ones might be the Braves and/or White Sox. Maybe not 'bad' but underwhelming.

Injuries matter too, and it's still very early. Nowhere near ready to give up on the Sox winning the division again.
