The Astros may not have had a worse 2018 if Keuchel had been his 2017 level . So I guess the team may not be the Cubs but old Dallas is

After winning the 2017 World Series, someone asked Dallas Keuchel about the after effects in winning the championship and the World Series hangover, and the chances of repeating.

"We're not the Cubs," the left-hander told The Washington Post. "I firmly believe we have better players."

NO........ you just lost the following year LCS, just like the CUBS did..........same amount of games.

How do you feel now?
The Astros have a better, more talented than the Red Sox. The Red Sox were hungrier and played with more heart this year. The best team, more often than not, fails to win a championship. That's true in hockey, basketball and football also.

I would think Keuchel was referring more to the Cubs' flat start after their championship. Remember, although they ended up with 92 wins, they were 45-45 through their first ninety.

So next preseason which Red Sox player says "We're not the Astros."

Wouldn't make as much sense - Astros didn't start flat in '18.

That said, I hope one of them does, and jinxes the fuck out of them.

FYI The statement was made in preseason. The Cubs starting out flat had nothing to do with it.

Not many do. Scumbag franchise with scumbag fans. It's a damn shame that the WS drought didn't last until each individual that helped make Bartman's life a living hell was in the cold, hard ground. Those scumbags didn't deserve to celebrate a WS, and those that defend them don't either.

Alou wouldn't have caught it anyways, and Bartman didn't cause the error on the DP ball.

For Cubs and Steve Bartman, Anger Still Appears to Be in Play

That was a stupid thing to say. It is hard to repeat. Except in the NBA

False.

The statement was made THIS preseason. The Cubs flat start was last year, after their championship in 2016.

Here's a timeline for you.

2016: Cubs win championship
2017: Cubs start flat, play .500 for the first half of season, Astros win championship
2018 preseason: reporter asks if the Astros will have a WS hangover like the Cubs, Keuchel says "no, we're better"
2018: Astros/Cubs prove Keuchel right

Based on what?

Bullpen built for the playoffs

2018 Postseason bullpen record / ERA

BOS: 11-3 / 3.29 ERA
HOU: 4-4 / 4.18 ERA

OK, fine my timeline was wrong, but I'm betting it had nothing to do with the Cubs start.

In fairness it was the interviewer who brought up the Cubs.

So next preseason which Red Sox player says "We're not the Astros."

And which Astros fan will have to borrow the OP's rash cream to remove the butt hurt over it.

Really? So your bet is that Keuchel's intended meaning was basically, 'of course we're going to repeat as World Series champions because we're better than the Cubs.' You really think that's what he meant?

Here's the story on ESPN.

"We're not the Cubs," Keuchel told The Washington Post when asked about the Chicago Cubs' returning almost the same team from their 2016 championship and winning 11 fewer games. "I firmly believe we have better players."

So, he was asked about a world series hangover and the reporter specifically mentioned the Cubs winning eleven fewer games after their championship season, but it had nothing to do with the Cubs' 45-45 start. That's not a good bet, Manster.

In fairness it was the interviewer who brought up the Cubs.

Of course he did, and then every website that ran the story omits the actual question and uses the headline "We're not the Cubs." It's just incendiary, click-bait bullshit that our media outlets are so adept at.
