This doesn't sound desperate!

OXNARD, Calif. — Dallas Cowboys players keep hearing the question about pass plays.

“What’s the step count?” coaches ask, wanting to confirm how many steps quarterback Dak Prescott will take when it’s time to execute the pass concept they’re discussing.

But the question is not being directed only to Prescott, his fellow quarterbacks or even meetings that include at least one QB.

Cowboys receivers, rather, are now tasked with tracking this information.

“This is the first year we’ve really had to key in on how many steps he’s taking so we know how fast the ball is coming out,” sixth-year receiver Michael Gallup told Yahoo Sports. “They harp on that every day.”

The Cowboys are shifting their offensive system more drastically than they have since Prescott earned his starting role in 2016. To say Prescott’s league-high 15 interceptions last season prompted this move would oversimplify the Cowboys’ direction. But as head coach Mike McCarthy assumes play-calling for the first time since arriving in Dallas in 2020, he’s evolving from the principles that he had allowed now-Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to maintain as they prioritized system continuity for Prescott’s development.

Put 3 more up on the board! Does this put him up to 8 so far? He might blow past 10 interceptions already this season before training camp is over with.

Not sure Eagles fans should be celebrating at this point considering the last 17 QB's to make the Super Bowl and lose their debut never made it back to the Super Bowl. Not a good sign of things to come for Eagles.

Sounds like coaching from a new OC and play caller :noidea:

Why? I’m sorry, but that shit has nothing to do with the Eagles 2023 season. If they fail, they’ll fail because they fell short and they under performed. If they fail it will be because they had key injuries and the depth didn’t step up to counteract those injuries. Stats like that and trends like that are begging to be bucked. In gambling you want to be out ahead of a trend. 17 QBs in a row? That shit reeks of it’s time for the trend to die. This is different from assessing say a military academy head to head and playing an under. Theres a legit football reason you can attach to that.

I don’t know why people are so focused on camp turnovers. This is the time of year where you coach by using those things and learning from mistakes whether it’s timing or execution or a read, etc…

I said the same last year after week one, BUT you weren't having any of that. As i recall, Dallas's season was always over before it started.

Funny what a difference a year makes. This cub scout stuff is a nice look for you.

I find it interesting how RTK keeps pointing out how bad ass our Defense is doing in camp!

plus they are implementing at least a partially new offensive scheme. i honestly couldn’t care less about practice interceptions. It’s silly. in practice You need to work on things and make throws even if into traffic in those situations at times. But, once the real games start, Dak needs to make better decisions than last year.

Yep. You don’t know the limitations of a QB/WR connection for contested balls unless you work it.

You realize sports get connected to statistics all the time because trends begin to emerge and we can glean information from that information right? Doesn't mean the Eagles are doomed the entire time Hurts is their QB, but in order for them to win it would mean going against the odds. Heck even making it back to the Super Bowl would be going against the odds. A lot of teams have been right where the Eagles are at saying "oh we were so close and we have most of our team returning so watch out." Then watch them fall flat on their face. You are not the first fanbase to be told this is an issue and for there to be pushback against that narrative only for things to come up short and be proven wrong.

You’re in a great spot here as only one team every year can win the Super Bowl. If I misread your post, I apologize, but it seemed like you were writing them off as incapable of accomplishing their major goal because of trends that aren’t always going to be applicable. I bet with each of those 17 QBs you cite there is a unique story with different pitfalls, injuries, etc…that went into the determination of the outcome. It’s very difficult to get to the Super Bowl.
