I would agree in part with this. I agree I would not pay him more than what the Jets paid ED. We can't have that much money tied up in the WR position especially like you said we are working to become a more balanced team with a great run offense. I still think Sanders though is a better player than Decker. He does a much better job of beating press coverage and winning the one on one battles. He is not the red zone threat that ED was for sure but in every other part of his game he is better in my opinion. He is clutch especially on 3rd down and he has been the guy that both Osweiler and Manning looks to in those crucial moments. I'm willing to try and see what we get him signed for where with ED I thought it was a good idea we didn't even offer him a contract. Now if Latimer develops though then I do think you have to let Sanders walk. We drafted him for a reason and I hope he does show to be a great receiver for us.

Don`t think there`s enough time to see if Lat develops before Sanders decision. I hope he doesn't ask for too much because that guy has saved Denver's butt on 3rd down with tough catches more than any other wr on this team not to mention his toughness and willingness to block downfield,etc. Anyone, imo, who doesn't see what a huge part he is to this teams success, is blind. Guys like Sanders don`t just fall off trees. Denver is very fortunate to have him and I hope they realize that come negotiation time. At this point right now.... There isn`t another wr on team besides DT ( and I think Sanders has played bigger role in wins anyway) that has or looks to have the skill set he has. Very valuable to me anyway. We will see who makes the most critical plays for Denver in these next 4 games and beyond. My money is on Sanders.

I think Duffman had said something about how we need to keep Sanders at all cost this next year. Well at this point since he is under contract I don't think the team needs to do anything. He thought we should just go ahead and sign him long-term. To me with all the other guys we have to resign we might as well push that can down the road another year unless Sanders wants to sign long-term on the cheap. I doubt he does as this next contract could be huge for him if he keeps playing at a high level.

I'm just worried that if he gets to free agency after next year someone desperate is gonna offer him a huge deal that we can't match. He's worth a lot(not as much as a true #1 but still up there) but if we can't extend him during the season next year I think he's gone.

While I agree I would love to see the team extend him to me the bigger issue is just how much money we have to go around. While we will have plenty of Cap Space with cutting a few players this off season we also have to spend quite a bit just on the players that are for sure up this year. If we have the money then yeah go ahead and extend him. The way I have it figured up though with players with similar production and what they got contract wise to the players we have I don't see it happening. A lot though will depend on what we do with Osweiler and say we do keep him how much is he going to cost? I've seen analyst say expect something like what Matt Flynn got with 3-years/$20 million (if this happens oh my goodness I will jump for joy) to that of Nick Foles type contract at 2-year/$24 million. So anywhere from $6-12 million. Now if we win the Super Bowl all bets are off on contracts for many of these players. If we get Osweiler for closer to $6 million then yeah I think we stand a very good chance of getting Sanders locked down for a couple of extra years. If he is closer to $12 million though money will get tight in a hurry.
