I wonder if Cartwright had to beat Dixon by a decent amount to take the job, because Dixon is a well-liked guy around the team. It wasn't enough to be better - he had to be better by enough to justify an unpopular move, maybe.

I had both Rock & Anthony gone - so I could be wrong on the other side of the Dixon & Cartwright equation - Honestly, I will be more than a little confused if we keep Gore, Jacobs Miller, Dixon, James & Hunter and very disappointed if we keep Dixon and let any of the other five RB/FB's go.

I've gotta think we keep everyone else. Gore, Hunter, and James have to be stone cold locks. I guess Tukuafu's "emergence" might threaten Miller a bit, but Miller has looked great blocking, and had a fantastic catch this week. I'd be blown away if any of those guys got cut. Jacobs could, but it would surprise me. We'll see on Dixon, but it's looking like he makes it.

Panthers cut Amini Silatolu. Thats' a huge shock. Seemed like a decent number of mocks had us taking him at 30. He was taken 40 overall.

How in the world do you use your 2nd round pick on him and cut him before the season starts?

There has got to be a story behind this one and if not I would definitely take a flyer on him and hope to coach him up into a Iupati jr.

I've got to lean on it being a mistake because that would be an epic scouting blunder to take a guy in the 2nd and than just cut him without giving him a chance.

At least we gave Taylor Mays a season before trading him.

Robinson should play STs. I think Bakhtiari makes it for this reason. We'll be just fine, but a couple bigger WRs would help. Do Williams and Manningham get some looks at gunner? Other than Crabtree and Moss, neither of whom are likely to appear on STs, our WRs are pretty darn small.
