The New York Giants have told running back Brandon Jacobs that he will be released, according to a league source on Friday.

Jacobs had said in February that he was open to restructuring his contract to stay with the Giants but acknowledged that the team might release him.

Jacobs was scheduled to receive a $500,000 roster bonus this month and a $4.4 million salary next season.

their fan base already went thru a BAD season, and not expecting a lot in 2012. so in a sense you might as well cut the poor values now.

i'm sure some of these guys can still play, but their contracts lkely too high?
