The Houston Texans have released backup quarterback Matt Leinart, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Leinart finally got the chance to start for Houston after Matt Schaub broke a bone in his right foot on Nov. 13, but Leinart fractured his left collarbone in the second quarter of his first start since 2009.

The Oakland Raiders plan to release tight end Kevin Boss, who signed a four-year, $16 million deal last summer, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Boss' deal includes $6 million guaranteed. He was due $4 million in 2011 and the Raiders still owe Boss $2 million guaranteed in 2012, according to the source.
