The bullpen ranks 26th out of 30 major-league teams in opponent’s OPS (.733). Giants relievers rank 25th in ERA (4.62). They rank 25th in Wins Above Average (minus-1.7).

The Giants have juggled roles because Miller (holding lefties to a .115 average and all opponents to 4.5 hits per nine innings) and Walker (who hasn’t given up an extra-base hit to a right-handed batter in 58 confrontations this season) have simply been that nasty whenever they’ve taken the mound.

Whenever Tyler Rogers struggled the reason was simple. He wasn’t throwing enough strikes. This season, his zone rate of 59.2 percent is the best of his career.

Hjelle has a 1.46 ERA over his last nine appearances. He’s struck out 15 without walking a batter over those 12 1/3 innings.

RanRod has 12 strikeouts vs. three walks in 8 2/3 innings and he’s fared well despite being pushed out of necessity into a multiple-inning role that he hadn’t experienced since being converted from the rotation to relief following the 2022 season at High-A Eugene.

The Giants bullpen, as presently constituted, is much better than its aggregate statistics. Remember that minus-1.7 Wins Above Average? Those inputs included minus-2.0 WAA from Kai-Wei Teng, Daulton Jefferies, Mitch White, Landen Roupp and Nick Avila. Among that group, only Avila is still on the active roster. Addition by subtraction.

Why fitz instead of Wisely? Neither have been used recently, but fitz gives speed and defense...
kinda two ways to look at this:
1. They know something about the day-to-day that we don't. Could be that Fitz needs to play every day and Wise doesn't, e.g.
2. They are idiots screwing up.

I prefer to go 1, but a lot of fans pick 2.

GTFO here with your logical take. We don’t entertain those thoughts around these parts.

Fitz 4-4 tonight with a double and two homers (one a grand slam) and 5 RBI and a SB

Don't think he wanted to be sent down.
Don’t blame him. It wasn’t like he earned a demotion. With so many poor hitting performances in the lineup, I didn’t get why he wasn’t starting more often

No official move yet, but Snell will likely be going on Paternity leave as soon as today. Avila is with the club currently and will likely be reactivated to take his place.

Just what we need from Snell, more distractions.

Just found out that Sabol was sent to Richmond, not Sacramento. Apparently, they really want the trio of Brandon Martorano, Jackson Reetz and Donny Sands catching in AAA.

They talked about this on the broadcast. They posited that since the big club was on the east coast, and Bailey’s status was less than 100%, they likely wanted Sabol close by “just in case” and that when the roadie is over, he will be promoted to Sacto.
