Sammy put Morse on the 7-day DL.

KT called up.

It's pretty frustrating that Mac can barely get his feet wet and isn't given a chance to work through his struggles. Doesn't gain much from going back to AAA.

Well, you know, we just have to give Hill (.129) and GorKys (.180) and Ruggs (.217) some more chances, as they are proven major league hitters.

I understand your point was tongue in cheek, precisely because neither Hernandez nor Ruggiano has ever been effective (for very long) at the big league level. Hill used to be but that was a few years ago.

Gotta think the corresponding move is either Arroyo, Hill or Gorkys. Arroyo would require a 40 move.

My guess is Gorkys.

According to Pavs it "Looks like the Giants are ready to blow some of this up".

Slater covers all 3 OF spots, should be replacing Gorkys. Clear replacement, no conflicting PT if both guys stick around, easy to swap spots on 40 man roster.

Another possibility, without sacrificing inventory is to send down Arroyo and move Bum to 60

It's possible, but is it worth it? Gorkys has been truly awful, McGehee bad. What's the point in saving him? They have 6 other guys that can play the OF (and cover every spot with at least 2 guys) not including Gorkys.

edit: Mac makes 7

I agree. But their mantra this year has been "inventory inventory inventory".

But if the Slater call is a signal of a white flag, than I think guys like Morse, Gorkys and Hill are very short for the roster. They have zero trade value, so there is no point in their existence. Expect to see Gonor and Nunez get a LOT of PT, though. Maybe Hundley as well.

Justin Ruggiano has been DFA'd to clear space for Slater.

Would rather have Ruggiano over Gorkys, but I wonder if Cueto's comments influenced this. Granted, Ruggiano hasn't been inspiring himself.

Cueto comments have not been sitting well with me.

He is insinuating that if you don't have Dominicans, you have a good clubhouse? Maybe for HIM (understandable), but the way the comments have been portrayed, non-Dominican clubhouses = chemistry-free.

Hey, in a roundabout way, this may be best for the org. It reduces the chances he opts in, and increases the chances the Giants deal him.

As far as Gorkys over Ruggiano, while it isn't a huge deal, I just don't get it. Both can play CF, but at least Ruggiano has something resembling a bat. And Gorkys' D has been horrendous this year.

The moves this season just don't make sense. As for the Cueto comments, when were they made? Its the first I've heard of them.

Thanks.

This Ruggiano move irks me. While his numbers were by no means great, on this team there were better than what Morse, Arroyo, Tomlinson, Williamson, Hernandez, Hill, Parker, Marrero, Gillaspie, Federowicz and Stubbs have posted. Note that 4 of those mentioned are currently on the 25 man, another 3 are on the 40 man and another 1 is on the 60 day.

It seems the Giants are taking their time with Gillaspie's rehab (versus Hill's). Gillaspie disappeared from the Sacramento roster quite a few days ago and wasn't on San Jose's roster until recently. What I don't know is if his rehab clock has restarted (i.e. he had a "setback" and the team is allowed to re-start the clock) or if the days in between being on rosters doesn't count or the team is close to having to make a decision on him.

COTS only says this about rehab assignments: "A club may send a player on the DL to the minor leagues for a rehab assignment lasting a maximum of 20 days for position players and 30 days for pitchers."
