And 11 aav for a bully arm is kinda steep for a non-closer (I know Rogers is a late-inning guy with closer experience, but still).

I am OK with the signing, but it is still expensive.
Agreed.

Now I think the two most likely DFA candidates are Gonzalez and either Long or Marte

I have too many hats and other paraphernalia ... and a son named "McCovey"... so I can hate them but...

Man is this team getting on my nerves...

Giants acquired OF/RHH Lewis Brinson (28.7Y) from HOU for cash. He was a 2012 1R pick by TEX out of Coral Springs HS. Appeared in 16 games (3 HR) for the Giants and 2 for Sacramento. Currently a FA.

How did the Giants acquire Brinson from Houston if he is a minor league free agent?

So the Strippling deal still isn’t official, I take it?

He's raised his OPS every year, but it's still pretty low. Maybe someone likes his attitude. I wish him the best.

Interesting. So I guess that means Sabol will be the backup catcher?
A bit surprising that the Giants would go with a tandem of Bart and Sabol. I have to think that they sign a couple of veteran catchers to minor league deals and see how spring training goes.

Regarding Conforto's opt out, will the Giants increase his playing time if he stinks, just to make sure he hits the opt out mark in case he gets hurt?

If he plays badly, and/or gets hurt, why would he opt-out?

I mis-read the article. I thought it said that he is automatically opted-out if he hits that many plate appearances.
um, if it's automatic....

its not an option....

you hurt my brain here.
