It was mentioned on KNBR before g2 that Katz accepted the designation to Sacto.

  • Brebbia’s next step is pitching in consecutive games, which he is scheduled to do tonight and Tuesday. After the Cardinals non-tendered Brebbia last winter, San Francisco signed Brebbia to a one-year, $800K contract, and he is still under team control via arbitration through the 2023 campaign. That could end up being a very shrewd acquisition for the Giants, especially if Brebbia is indeed able to make a relatively quick return from TJ surgery (the normal recovery timeline is 13-15 months) and match the solid numbers he posted out of the Cards’ bullpen from 2017-19.

Giants added John Brebbia to the roster. He was a good RH reliever in St. Louis, had been rehabbing after Tommy John. Menez optioned, Sanchez to 60-day IL to clear a roster spot.

Wade has been playing like a legit every day player. That sucks that we are losing him (I know, we aren’t losing him...).

Roster crunches, as much as they hurt, are a symptom of very good things, though.

So far almost everyone we've plugged into a position and done pretty well.

Taco, as I like to call him, has had his moments though...

But seriously, can we not send him down and keep Wade?
Nope. Talk has no options. The only “options” the Giants have for him are...

1) Keep him on the active roster
2) Place him on the IL (either 10-day or 60-day)
3) DFA him (they could still hope to keep him, but this does open him to being claimed by other teams, and his D alone will likely get him claimed by someone)

They are saying this will not be a short stay on the shelf for Belt. They aren’t saying how long yet, but they are saying weekS at least. I am not yet willing to say we have seen the last of him, but I am not that far away. Apparently, it is his knee that he had surgery on a while back.

I think we have to assume he's done as a Giant.

And that makes me sad. The Baby Giraffe is #forevergiant

Kapler didn't rule out surgery but it sounds as if they are going to try rest first to see if it gets better on its own. I don't know if that's because there is a possibility he gets better that way or more of a "hey, it won't make things worse if we delay the surgery" move.

Slusser said on KNBR today that she thought it'd be surgery. She was hoping for arthroscopic but said we won't know for a couple days when swelling subsides.
