Auburn's Cam Newton will rank among all-time best Heisman winners - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

Now I am not saying that Crouch is even close to the best Heisman winner in the past 25 years but I don't think he is the worst. In my opinion last year's winner, Mark Ingram, is by far and away the worst. After looking at the list I would probably put Crouch in the lower half of the list somewhere. Crouch won the Heisman in a down year for overall players and more won it for a career award rather than what he did that individual season.

This list however kind of reminds me of that line about doctors. What do you call the person who graduates at the bottom of his class in medical school? You call him doctor!!!

I have heard Crouch is one hell of an attention whore since failing to make it at the next level. One of my friends was at some get-together thing for her company and Crouch was there doing whatever it is that he does now, but he was sitting at their table. She said nobody was acting any different around him than they were anyone else and he spoke up was like "do you guys know who I am?"

Then they were like "uhhhh yea........you're Eric Crouch.........neato."

He then asked them if they wanted his autograph :L

Hard to gauge everyone unless you actually played against them or had seen them enough to really get a feel for their abilities, but I personally would say..

Charlie Ward was way over rated...

Salaam from CU was a surprise to me because I thought McNair was going to win that year...

George was a beast, and Tommy Frazier gave him a run for his money that year...

Eric, is probably at the bottom somewhere, but to make this list like this.... is just to cause reactions and traffic....

As for Eric being a publicity hound... ? I think he is a good guy, but kind of had the rep of being spoiled kid... not sure if that is a fair assessment or not...

Never really cared for Crouch as I am old school Husker and I thought he was selfish.

I will say his run against Missouri was right up there with Johnny Rogers' punt return vs Oklahoma in 71. He had the shit and I respect him more now 9 years later.

24. Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama (2009). With all due respect, Ingram was the definition of "best running back or quarterback for the No. 1 team." As Heisman winners go, his season was not overly spectacular, rushing for 1,542 yards (118.6 per game) and 15 touchdowns. Runner-up Toby Gerhart of Stanford ran for 1,736 and 26 scores. The most dominant player in the country that year was Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Gino Toretta and Chris Weinke easily the two worst .
