This is Sid that we're talking about, so I'd be shocked if he didn't make it back for the playoffs.

If he does finish the regular season in the press box, does he still win the Hart?

I'm sure there's a bigger trophy Sid would rather have come the end of the year

For sure, but he has the worst luck when it comes to regular season awards. He only has one MVP, but has had 4 seasons in which he could have run away with it, only to be limited by injury (including this one).

They don't wire 'em shut as often these days. Once again: depends on where the fx is. Close to the joint they will to prevent motion/reinjury. I hope he avoids that.

That's a good point pix. A few years back that was a common thing to do but not so much anymore. As you said it depends on where the fracture/break is.

Okay. Some people have gone to the internet for comparisons. Look no further than Detroit. Both Brad Stuart and Patrick Eaves had broken jaws while playing for the Wings. I'll use them to illustrate some differences here.
Eaves:

He turns his head and the puck hits him in the temple. It's called the temple for the temporal bone that sits there. The temporal bone connects to the mandible (jaw) at the temporalmandibular joint (TMJ). His recovery time was 6-8 weeks because of this.

Stuart:

Stuart takes a shoulder to the chin, still part of the mandible, but not at the joint. No joint=less complicated. That's pretty much true of any bone in your body. At the joint you have to immobilize (in the case of the jaw, you wire it shut) to prevent further injury. Stuart was out a month.

Crosby:

Puck to the chin/mouth. Fracture is very likely at the symphasis of the bone, not the joint. It's just an easier recovery. He'll be ready for the playoffs.

This has been LESSONS WITH PIX

*takes bow*

All I can say is this seeing Hammerdown must have removed this smiley

When it comes to male-on-male oral sex nothing tops Pittsburgh's ability. It was a no-brainer for Ignila.

Just like it was a no-brainer for Giamatti to tell Rose he's banned from baseball? Just like it was a no-brainer for someone to get Ray Lewis off the hook for two possible murders?

Yeah right. You got burned, deal with it.:laugh3:

I know and I am grateful for it, but it's just frustrating. Every damn season.

I know what you mean but think of it this way, you could be a Sabres fan. Now THATS frustration !!!

Besides if he's back soon he still could win the MVP.

Edit: He's got a 10 point lead in the scoring race over Stamkos.

FFS.

At least it's a timetable recovery. Hopefully he gets back ahead of schedule.

How many times has Sid been injured now right when he was hitting his stride?

2008, leading the league in points, high-ankle sprain
2011, leading the league in points and playing out of this world, concussion
2013, leading the league in points and leading his team to 15 straigth wins, broken jaw

Just give me a healthy Malkin and Crosby for one complete season, please....

I'm NOT trying to be a smart ass here but haven't the Pens gone on some pretty good runs over the last few years when one or the other have been out of the line up? Maybe the team rallies around each other when they have adversity.

Or maybe, Boss, it should be pointed out that other teams would love to have either healthy for half of a season?

Maybe the ping-pong ball that awarded the Pens Crosby had fine print saying something along the lines of: Only valid for 60 % of each regular season.

Sucks to see the best player in the world (or any player) get injured but as a Sens fan I don't have much sympathy for the Penguins faithful when one of their players goes out for 4 weeks or so.
