The top 8 teams in the West are a combined 110-35 against the Eastern Conference this year.

No, that is not a typo. :surprised:

110-35.

Sample sizes... 7 games or 145? :noidea:

I knew the numbers would be in favor of the West, but didn't think it would be by this huge of a margin.

Considering the struggles of the East, a lot of East teams underachieving.

I'm really not surprised.

I'm more concerned with the record of ATL, TOR, WSH, CLE, & CHI record against the top 8 out West. Miami, Milwaukee, & Charlotte/Brooklyn aren't good basketball teams so I would expect those teams to be several games under .500 against the top 8 out West

Washington is 3-5 against the top 8 (3-4 with Beal)

Toronto is 3-5 against the top 8 ( 1-4 without DeRozan)

Chicago is 6-3 against the top 8

Cleveland is 3-5 against the top 8 ( 0-3 without Lebron)

So the top 5 teams is the East are 21-19 against the top 8.

Not terrible at all especially when you consider 9 of those 40 games were played without the best or 2nd best player on one of those teams

Not questioning the top 5 teams in the East, because they are all solid... this is more of an emphasis on how bad the conference is as a whole and how those 5 teams can pile on wins vs. the bad teams in the East where the WC teams don't have that luxury as often.

Like I said before, I just wish they got rid of divisions and conferences & balanced out scheduling.

Milwaukee is 3-7 against the top 8 out West

Miami is 3-7 against the top 8 out West (0-2 without Wade)

Charlotte is 1-11 against the top 8.

I think it safe to assume that from Charlotte & below is when the top 8 out West picked up most of their wins.

They're 33-27 against the top 7 which isn't that great if you asked me.

They clearly beat up on teams 8-15

Define best teams in the east. Top 3 seeds? Small sample size.

The best team in the East is the Hawks. Top 8 teams in the West are 1-6 against Atlanta.

The best teams in the East IMO are the top 5 seeds currently and the top 8 out West is just 19-21 vs those 5 teams

I've been really impressed with ATL actually. For them it's just about staying healthy. Horford's kinda injury-prone. They have one of the best starting 5's in the NBA. This wasn't meant to be a hate thread on the East, just didn't think the overall records would have that big of a gap is all.

It'll just be sad to see 2 of PHX/NOP/OKC to miss the playoffs again even though they deserve to make it to the big stage. In my opinion at least. I know you'll probably disagree.

The Hawks are 13-2 against the West with their losses being to the Spurs and Lakers. Spurs loss was on the road the Lakers game was at home so counts as 1 of the few times so far they just didn't play well.
